I was never a C's fan...but watching P. Pierce play at that level all those years with a not-great roster around him, I always wished at some point he had the group of the same quality around him to be a real contender. And then when KG and Ray got there, watching them play...and I'm just...these guys play the right way, they play together, got a chance, glad to see it for PP, as well as KG & Ray. And got to the point of "yeah, I like this group..." and by the time they got to the playoffs, I'm "let's go C's!" And they had a fabulous run...& PP showed he ACTUALLY WAS the guy on the highest stage that I thought/hoped he was.

If anything he became overrated after winning. Paul Pierce proved that he could not carry a team consistently to the playoffs even when playing with another all star. Great scorer of course, but he was not a great playmaker not a great defender. He was a bit one dimensional and was easily the most replacable in the boston big 3.

No Pierce was never on the talent level of Kobe but as a Celtics fan, people outside of Boston don't understand that for a long stretch of time that spanned over a decade, Pierce was OUR Kobe. Pierce was always a player that when you needed a clutch shot or a game winner, it felt like he would always come through. He was the best small forward in the NBA until a few years into LeBron and Melo's career. Always will be a Celtics legend. Salute to the Truth and this was a solid interview.

@@Coffeendonutsfacts!’ When we had the last shot it was like we knew he would hit the shot lol. Even if they sent help he would just shoot it before they got there. He could shoot from anywhere and he had that step back. Luka and Pierce have similar scoring style, it’s this slower pace mixed with a bunch of hesitation moves and using your weight to creat space. Pierce was stronger than he looked. Rarely ever got blocked and he wasn’t very athletic. I watched him put that team on his back for years!! We always made playoffs even if it was 8th seed and we competed. That’s all we ask for as fans, we know our team wasn’t ready to win it all yet. Only haters and casuals try discredit what a PROBLEM the Truth was. As Draymond said, 'at the end of the day, you don't get a nickname like the Truth if you ain't NICE.' Draymond - I always say I judge whether someone knows the game or not on what they think of Draymond as a player. Those of us who know the game inside out, know Draymond's value and that GS don't win ANY of those championships without him. A defensive genius, a push the pace big who can orchestrate your offense.
