I love what Phil Keaggy has done in his life. He lost 5 kids, 3 through miscarriages and 2 after they were born. To go through that with his wife and stay together is incredible... but they had 3 more children that they raised, and he made a commitment to be a father for them and only do shows on the weekends, unless he took his family with him on tour... that's a very stable man. Very inspiring in his musicianship and his family.

I have had the blessings to meet and talk with Phil many times over the past 45 years. I'll say without hesitation that he is one of the gentlest, humblest people I have interacted with.

I had a chance to see him in concert about one month ago. It was an acoustic solo set. It was pretty awesome. I also had a chance to talk to him before the concert, he is really nice, humble and takes time to talk to people. He is my favorite guitarist and singer.

I've been a fan of Phil Keaggy since I first heard him in 1983. My favorite solo of his is on the album How The West was One. The song titled"Time". Still blows me away every time I hear it.

Phil Keaggy: "Cherish the moment". A very special piece for me. I have yet to hear a better outro.

Phil’s fabulous & is a good friend of mine. Every time I’ve jammed with him in the past I’ve had to be on my very best game & very alert. You can throw your best signature licks at him & he will match it & even surpass it. He’s that great! It’s hard to put Phil under one umbrella of music because he is so versatile. He’s as great & humble as a person than he is a guitarist/singer songwriter.

Hi Ross, I've tried reaching out to Phil to do an interview on theology in music. Any chance you might be able to make a connection for me? Oh, I run an apologetics channel in Australia called "No!Apologies" on KZbin if you'd like to check us out. Cheers, Phill C

That wasn’t his usual electric stuff I’d watch his PBS Special from 1972 with Glass Harp

Thanks for reacting to Phil Keaggy. I actually enjoy his acoustic recordings more also, although he's a great electric guitarist, as he displayed in this video. I had the pleasure of meeting him back in 1985. I was attending a monthly songwriter's class and he was the guest speaker at one of the lessons. His heyday was the 70's, 80's and early 90's; and mainly in the contemporary Christian recording industry.

In the 70s he plays on a local called, How the west was won with a group called, The second chapter of Acts. He plays like no one else.

His best stuff is his original videos with Glass Harp in the 70's and 'Chase the Bad Away' the rendition he did in a European hotel with the sun in the window. He plays a classic guitar like it's a pure electric. Then there is his Cajun Pass video, where he shows literally every classic skill set.

Find "Premium Jams" which is a double CD of electric jams. Also, "220" and... his rendition of "John the Revelator" on the album "Crimson and Blue" is the most incredible version I've ever heard.

I've been following phil since 75 and have had the pleasure of seeing him 9 times in concert once at Calvary Chapel costa Mesa were phil had his les paul and was walking around the stage and then sat down on the steps and proceeded to go into and absolutely incredible Jam for. I can't remember how long and then the audience went absolutely crazy with joy at phils amazing playing I would love to see the concert footage of that one wow afterward my brother went up on stage and talked to Phil and Phil let my brother put his Stratocaster away and then took my brother to get something to eat at Coco's restaurant what a great night

Wow I didn’t know anyone else knew Phil Keaggy. One of the top guitarists of the 70’s but he was little known as he mostly recorded Christian Rock

I'd never heard of him until a few months back. Seems he's highly respected by professionals but not that well known in the mainstream. It's great stuff and he seems a really humble guy.

He also an excellent clasdic guitarist. Check out his "Lights of Mastic" for some really complex Spanish guitar. His piece call "Overture for Guitar and Violin" might his best original composition ever, IMO.

Check out the acoustic album Beyond Nature if you really like his acoustic style. For electric, check out Crimson and Blue. He is a stellar player for sure. By now you have probably check some other stuff out, but I thought I would throw in my two cents. Also this jam session he put out on an EP called Revelator is awesome: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3Xcn5-pftdqnc0

Echoing andy trimble, listen to "Watt Ever", which is from the "Premium Jams" CD. Here's the studio recording: watch?v=bP39HzwwJCM I don't know of a live performance of this tune, but if you need a moving picture, Keaggy has an incredible live blues jam with Glenn Kaiser here: watch?v=ivHO0Rqb-Fc
