It's so easy to forget (or even never learn in the first place) that the famous men from the Revolution had lives and skills that were wholly separate from war and governance.

What was also very interesting is Paul revere's father was a Huguenot, the Protestants who were hunted down by the french. He emigrated to America. Huguenots are widely known as some of the best silversmiths, so the french spite themselves by giving America and Britain some of the best silversmiths when they fled from france

Well I believe you both are correct. Originally all of it was coin silver. The probability of the replaced top being made of sterling is very high.

Not to split hairs, but the poem's title is "Paul Revere’s Ride." The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere is a 1931 painting by the American artist Grant Wood :-).

I read somewhere Paul Revere marked some of his work with a rabbit I saw a silver bowl decorated with the old 13star flag among other things. My buddy loved metal detecting he was the one who found it. He was also a hoarder and a schitsophrenic sorry about the spelling. When I found out about the marking I tried telling him but he passed away I would love to know if that was "thee silver bowl.

Forensource I don’t think she did. Based on her comments I think she just hadn’t made the connection to “Paul” Revere, especially since it doesn’t appear she thought it was old enough to be from the colonial period - that info came from the expert during the appraisal.

some info that you might not know. Paul Revere was a silver smith, but he wasn't a great silversmith. Most of his stuff is valuable due to his name and history, not the quality of Paul Revere. Paul Revere SR, his dad, was the better silversmith and did better work and his work is just as valuable due to the quality, not Paul jr. being famous. Much of this silverwork you need of course to make sure what was done by Paul, and what was done by Paul Sr, his dad. Both equally valuable, but each has their own brandwork so you can tell who did what.

it all depends! if it's a replica, of an original, made in later years by the original company and marked as such and it has the same workmanship, it will have much more value then a forgery or a later copy! Nothing has more value, then a the one that was created by the original craftier.

I said, you can't get none Had a chance to run He pulled out his shotgun Quick on the draw, I thought I'd be dead He put the gun to my head and this is what he said
