About USB 4, yeah, I only have a USB A 2.0 keyboard/mouse hooked up to my PC, so I don't really see the point personally. In fact, when I upgraded to AM4 I was a bit surprised (I had forgotten to check) that the motherboard had no PS/2 port, so I lost N-key rollover on my mechanical keyboard which is a minor frustration, in some niche use cases I notice ghosting/dropped inputs from that. It was funny to see a lot of comments on that USB C only motherboard at computex saying "so where do I plug in my IBM model M" :) For file transfers between computers, I use scp/rsync, not detachable storage. That might just be a Linux user thing, but when you are moving from computer to USB storage, then from USB storage to another computer, you have to replug a bunch of things, and that is also 2 read/write cycles instead of 1 when you are copying straight over LAN, so even if the throughput is slower it will be similar speed and more convenient. Perhaps internet file transfer is not possible for your use cases though (such as moving from camera storage to scratch drive etc)

interesting post - USB I guess is very important for a lot of people, not so much for others. USB3 seems plenty fast for what I do..... not sure USB 4 is much faster or maybe im mixing that up with thunderbolt standards now

@@4thofjuly-fk4oq Don't get me wrong, I think there is plenty of room in the market for those standards. But higher bandwidth standards have much more expensive signal integrity chains and require higher layer PCB count motherboards. And with a lot of complaints (some justified, some not) about motherboard pricing, I think that it is justified to have boards that don't support those things for people who don't need it. The ASRock B650M HDV/M.2 is I think an example of that. Only 2 DIMM slots, because most people won't ever use all 4 and in fact having all slots occupied tends to reduce stability/lower bandwidth speeds, and the IO is not very fancy either, with only 1 USB C port, and it is selling extremely well.

I use a Quest 3 and my problem is that most Mainboards don't support more then 7,5 or 15W.
