I really love this atmosphere for this teaching series. R.C. sitting at the front of a room reclining on a chair while students sit around either on the floor or at a chair. I adore the closeness of it. It feels like a grandfather teaching his grandchildren about the goodness of Christ.

You know, @10ALundstrom, I have that same feeling as you described about R. C. sitting there and teaching the awesome word of God to those who are gathered at his feet, so to speak, intently listening to him! We believers of this dispensation of the GRACE OF GOD are justified by faith ALONE through grace ALONE, and our Precious Lord Jesus is using "Grandpa R. C." to explain this fact which such clarity for me, too! Love it!

I'm only halfway into this and already overwhelmed by our God. What other religion in existence has a God like this? None! No other religion offers this!

Greetings from Westwood Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee! 16:28 "God, being righteous, will not ever negotiate his righteousness." 17:22 "He maintains his own justice. He doesn't compromise his own justice." This is such a vital and glorious truth! So many deny this one way or another. Thank God for Dr. Sproul's enduring service to the church. Thanks for sharing this video.

@@mikemccormick9667 , what you quoted doesn't refute what I quoted. John's gospel is mistranslated. The Greek there should be translated as "obey", but the translators mistranslate it to defend Pauline writings.

@@wserthmar8908 Trusting in the finished work of Jesus does not mean we are not walking in the commandment of God. Trusting in the finished work of Jesus means that Jesus is at the centre of our worship , not what we are doing but what He did We are freed from the rigorous exaction, curses and condemnation of the law when we trust in the finished work of Christ. Being freed we can now delight in the commandment of the Lord after the inward man. “ For I delight in the law of God after the inward man." Roman’s 7:22 “knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” Galatians 2:16

@@Yesica1993 , I ask you kindly, please listen to me. I was in the same boat not so long ago. I used to hold mainstream Protestant beliefs, until I encountered criticism of Paul (for the second time), and actually read it. I found the case against him to be very compelling. You're on the crossroads, you might either dismiss it as nonsensical, or at least try to trust me, someone who used to have same beliefs you do now... just read / watch / listen to the criticism of Paul on the resource I mentioned, or elsewhere.

Let me, and no disrespect of the dead but the truth of God I say this, but shut the mouth of all those that believe they can believe alone and be justified alone without works or evidence of this belief in God. Romans 2:13 King James Version 13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. James agrees: James 1:22-25 King James Version 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. If I tell my wife, tgat I was wrong for hitting her, and that I will never abuse her again. It means nothing if I turn right around and go right back to it. Just like all of you who go to church on Sunday and worship God and on the rest of the days, you go to worship the things of the world. 1 Peter 2:9-10 King James Version 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Good luck with your doing the law😳.
@MyRoBeRtBaKeR5 ай бұрын
@jmitch9269 It's keeping the law, not doing the law. You're confusing Mosaic law with Christianity. Works no longer hold a negative connotation in Christianity, seeing that you are now doing God's will. You're throwing out the baby with the bathwater. If doing work was evil, we wouldn't be told to continue in them. Galatians 6:9 King James Version 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Matthew 5:16 King James Version 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Context matters. The entire book of James is NOT about how to be saved, but how to examine yourself to DETERMINE if you are saved. The entire book of James as a whole is clear that WORKS DO NOT SAVE. However, works are ABSOLUTELY PROOF that one is saved. If you think you’re saved but have no works, you should be concerned. That’s what the book is saying. We need to stop pointing at individual verses without considering their surrounding context.
