Also, download "The Chosen" app and you can watch an amazing series about Jesus' ministry and his travels with the disciples. It's great to feel the Holy Spirit at work, but we must be careful to not to chase after those feelings and seek moreso the things of the kingdom; it is all about Jesus and The Gospel. @masterprophet83785 жыл бұрын
Reformed, in know way did Paul even slightly imply that self-examination entails wrestling with doubt. Doubt is always frowned upon by Jesus and His disciples. JESUS: "O ye of little faith, wherefore didst thou DOUBT?" (Matthew 14:31). PAUL: "And he that DOUBTETH IS DAMNED if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin" (Romans 14:23). Have the presence of mind to exalt God's Word over the cult of personality, my brother.
@joshhoodrat4515 жыл бұрын
I think there is a distinction between “ doubting “ what God has promised ( salvation ) and whether He is capable of doing it (He is ) and whether or not as individuals we truly believe unto salvation and whether or not we have deceived ourselves into believing we believe . At the last supper , when Jesus said one of you will betray me , do you not think each of them questioned themselves internally if it was themselves who would betray Jesus ? Judas didn’t he was already planning betrayal. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

You have to listen to more of R.C.'s sermons to get the full measure of his Biblical teaching. The narrow way is surely faith in Christ alone (apart from ANYTHING else). That will always be the narrow way and the numbers who find it will be few (though "few" could be a large number from a human perspective - Revelation shows us a great throng around the throne). Faith in Christ alone is stirred up, confirmed and strengthened within us by the Holy Spirit as we hear the Word of Christ proclaimed. (Why faith comes to one person who hears the message while not to another who hears the same message is the mystery of election.) But along with the gift of faith in Christ alone comes the gift of assurance so that one does not always have to be questioning their salvation, simply accepting it with gratitude and wonder and utter humility. The question you need to ask yourself as you put your head on the pillow is this: "Am I trusting in Christ alone for my salvation?" If you can answer yes, then you can be at rest and sleep peacefully.
@mikesenger206411 ай бұрын
I don't think election is a mystry. To the elect themselves. It may be one to the lost. but not to the elect when walking in the spirit. When Christ says few. I will not question his math.

I pointed out that there is no evidence for women leading congregations in the early church, that Canon Law can't override the Divinely inspired and inerrant Word of God, and that the pews are empty because the church is preaching an empty, counterfeit gospel. God won't impose himself where he's not welcome. The other user also claimed that the church 'evolves'. I agreed with him that that is certainly the case. Although I might say 'fall into error' instead of 'evolve'. Contd...
