I look in detail at the Westlake Seat Box, sold by Go Outdoors. I’ll give the relevant measurements and features of the box with plenty of close up photos. I’ve used this box several times so can give an honest assessment.

Hi Paul. I bought your spare legs! Worth mentioning a couple of other things about this box. The matrix clips are exactly the same but the trays are just a few mm difference and won't fit. You can still buy the spare clips off the matrix website, but can only replace the sliding part of the hinge/clip though. The fixed part of the system is part of the drawer/tray box itself, so not replaceable. Message me on via your ebay sale for details. Make sure that you check the trays are closed and clipped in place before sitting back down else you will damage the clips. If you only wanted to take the box with the seat & drawer (without the 2nd tray), that's no problem if you don't use the strap. The strap H frame tags can easily be removed by drilling the the pot rivets. Save them to put back on should you ever come to sell it. The sliding clips are in 2 pieces and can come apart and fall off, I had to glue mine, being careful not to glue them so they didn't slide at all! The drawer can jam up when you're sat, and you may need to relieve your weight off the seat.

Thanks Paul great review, I've gone down the road of the Matrix chair and two matrix EVA bags the storage bag and the bait bag, And 2 made up rods, it's a lot easier, the Matrix chairs set up in no time and you can store things in the seat when it's folded down like a landing net head side tray unhooking mat, Many Thanks Richie.

I don’t know how they do it for that price. The only complaint is the side drawer is a bit stiff if you’re sat on the box, but I remember someone who had a £800 Rive saying the same about their box! I use mine travelling light and the legs have never slipped and it’s easy to carry being so light.

I now have my box and thank you very much for your advice, A thought I've had and I think I'll try it, When transporting it, I've set the height, And i think, I will transport it, Upside down to safe moving the legs, Seems to be ok when I flip it over and back I will be taking a matrix extra large Eva cool bag and a pole roller, These will go on top of the Turned over box, On my NGT XPR Trolley, Just wonder what you thought about that, Many Thanks Again Richie.

It is good to not have to keep adjusting the legs, I don’t think you’ll have a problem, just perhaps put a towel on the frame for the inverted seat to go on to protect it. For the money these boxes are just brilliant, wish they had been about when I started 40 years ago!

@@paulstacklereviews1695 Hi Paul just noticed the Maver SXi 36 compact seat box at £383. 99 is the same box as the west Lake, The only difference is it has 36 mm adjustable Legs and a better seat, But it has one less tray.

The seat has the shallow side drawer integrated into it, you could use that on the frame although the side drawer wouldn’t open as it would come against the hooks for the strap. That’s why I also use the tray, I don’t have anything in it but it means I can use the side drawer. It would be a very light set up, when you are on the box it would be plenty sturdy enough, but if you had a side tray with a lot of stuff on it and it was windy I’d worry it might blow over if you weren’t sat on it.
