Paul Shafer is a class act, I really like the respect & gratitude he has - that is the mark of a true gentleman!

It would be amazing to be able to see every musical performance from Late Night. I certainly missed more episodes than I saw and of course we never heard the band during commercials.

Thank you, Paul, for remembering Warren Zevon. Thank you and Dave both, for being the best friends WZ's music ever had. How many people would never have experienced his magic, if it hadn't been for you guys? Can't thank you two enough!

Well said, my friend. Warren was one of the best.
@brendaharper59988 жыл бұрын
+WiL Clark Yes. As a devoted Zevonite, for me, Warren was THE best....period. And now, with my own diagnosis entering it's 3rd month past their prediction, I look more and more to WZ and his amazing example for inspiration and courage. I couldn't have made it this far without his music for sure. And I'm still enjoying every sandwich .....

I'm going to miss the Late Show with David Letterman, Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra. Best late night band ever. And I loved Doc and the Tonight Show NBC Orchestra.

Remember the "Blues brothers", with John Belushi & Dan Akroyd starring as Jake & Elwood Blues? Paul Shaffer was the man responsible for putting together the band with some of the most talented musicians around. Paul was perhaps a bit quirky at times, but never-the-less he is a musical genius. I wish him the best.

Isn't it strange that Letterman only told him the last second? I find that quite odd- unless I'm missing something. In any case, Shaffer is a legend.

He told Paul because he only made the decision that day and told Les Moonves. Remember he made the decision in Spring 2014, so Paul had a years notice.

I liked the stripped down band they had the best. The one from the early years. They had the core 3 guys. The guitar guy, Wil Lee and Paul and Jordan on drums. But then they got Anton Fig and it was even better. The Worlds Most Dangerous Band is what they called it back then, I think.

+Hugh Jass The lighting inside a television studio is very bright. Considering Paul is 65 years old and has spent the last 43 years in the entertainment business, I wouldn't be surprised if he's photophobic. Or, like you noted, it could just be his shtick.

Out of all late night network shows, when it comes to either sidekicks to the host or a band leader of a late night show. This dude has got to be at the top of the list of people that obviously have no personal opinions or is scared to simply voice his OWN OPINION. As many people have noticed in his tenure on the Letterman show how he mainly just repeated what Dave said. It was just annoying
@pac4019 жыл бұрын
chilyn81 You didn't really watch the show if that's what you think.
@StevieStitches9 жыл бұрын
chilyn81 Or he stayed upbeat and lighthearted since Late Night and Late Show with improvisational comedian/prankster/host David Letterman are comedy shows and he did his job as humorous band leader. Dramatic opinionated debates like a jackass would have been just annoying, and unfunny, unlikeable, and Dave would have had him replaced in 1982.

I went to the same high school (a year or two behind) as Dave, and I can tell you that everyone was a quick witted "wise guy" just like "The Bearded One". Naturally, that high school is now closed. It's my understanding that Trump is going to change that, as soon as the wall goes up.
Hey Paul, someday will you please take the shades off and let us see your eyes. It's really hard for me to take anyone seriously when they act pretentiously wearing shades in a TV studio.
