On this day in 1888 {September 4th} George Eastman registered the name "Kodak" and patented his roll-film camera... And 85 years later on May 19th, 1973 "Kodachrome" by Paul Simon entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #2 {for 2 weeks}... Paul Simon's next release, "Loves Me Like A Rock", also reached #2 {for 1 week}... R.I.P. Mr. Eastman {1854 - 1932} and Mr. Simon will celebrate his 72nd birthday in one month on October 13th...

Truer words were never spoken... When I think back On all the crap I learned in high school, It's a wonder I can think at all. And though my lack of education Hasn't hurt me none, I can read the writing on the wall.. #DaveRamsey #The Borrower is Slave to the Lender

Gone at last? Seven months after the end of Kodachrome processing and he's celebrating its demise. I know Kodak was dickish over his song in 1973, but this is just cruel.

Finally there is some nice song and footage, how hard can it be to get the music and the kodachromes synchonized? Apparently it seems to be hard. Video not worth watching.

It's funny I've been thinking the same thing as I've tried to find a great live version of such a great song. No doubt he's performed it even better live than that recording we love, but this definitely does serve it justice. Grateful.

Nikon was founded in 1917 as "Nippon Kōgaku Kōgyō Kabushikigaisha" and renamed to Nikon Corporation in 1988 after their cameras. Also, an iPhone is a type of smart phone.

Hate when they "jazz" it up Why can't they sing it like they made ?

Because he's been singing this song for 30 years. He's grown and he understands the song differently than he did 30 years ago; his music has expanded also over those years and he's a better musician than he was 30 years ago. He's on a journey with this song; you want a memory. It's more fun to go with than to stay behind.

Peter Vogel I heartily disagree. I don't buy that he "understands" the song differently than he did when he wrote it. Rarely does the artist who wrote a song improve upon it over time (as opposed to someone who covers it and brings a whole new perspective). If the artist wants to do a song differently, he should probably write a new song with the new phrasing he or she has in mind. It does a disservice to the original creation, the fans who enjoyed the original, and the artist himself who took a creative shortcut. If the artist wants to go on a journey, he should write a new song and watch everybody head for the bathrooms.I think it is a sign of disrespect to the audience that the artist won't make the effort to recreate the song the way the audience remembers it. I'm no great fan of the Eagles, but Glen Frey made that point in an interview and I respect him greatly for it.

Steve McGady BTW I don't think this rendition was really "jazzed" up, it was just a half-assed performance.

If you want the song the way you first heard it, listen to the CD. If you go to the concert, you're there to hear the artist interpret the song. Personally, I love all the changes that, for example, Paul Simon or Richard Thompson have put their tunes through. There's more than one way to sing a song and each version reveals something new. Why would the original way (when he knew the least about the song) be the best way? Singing it "just like the first time" isn't respecting the audience, it's pandering.
