I remember travelling on a train in Switzerland in 1996 whilst coming back to UK listening to this song and others on an album called Paul Simon Anthology. Wonderful song!!

Company in long road trips and sane ...many thanks to you sir..........your last tour in my country and I ain’t even got a ticket but your music is inside me I’m 46 yrs old I always say this as a lot of people my age don’t know what your music is about hope you enjoy your retirement?? ,!!! YOU ARE A TRUE LEGEND And would have loved to see you live but I can live with that as long as I got Graceland to bounce into now n again lol totall respect to .just to clarify .? One of his finest,Def in top ten of all time singer/songwriters,,,,prefer there goes rhymin Simon version accompanied by full orchestra but he sings it just as well here

His sheet music for this song has it played with a capo on the first fret. I can't see one, which makes me wonder is his guitar tuned up a semi-tone

I've seen a few people say its tuned up a half step, indeed. I've been practicing it without a capo and it sounds pretty great, but I should probably try the capo to get the closest I can.

Beautiful song isn't it and perfect storytelling vocals Simon and James Taylor were the only few writers using those full bodied . Jazz chords in folk music have a listen to Taylor's "don't let me be lonely tonight "said to be inspired by this one ......
