From 1987 to 1989 Paul Stanley co-founder of band, KISS - "USA - New York" was preparing for the opportunity to collaborate with Cher and produce an album for her. At the same time, he wrote material specifically focused outside the KISS framework. Some of these materials were supposed to be included on Paul Stanley's 1989 release cassette, which was not finally released, and these demos, which are in this short EP, should probably be part of this cassette in 1989! The song HIDE YOUR HEART was included on the album HOT IN THE SHADE in 1989!

@@kazarmageddon hey, I do agree, but you can't call No No No a filler... Bruce's guitar and Eric's drums blow anything off. It's a fkn' blast. On the other side, to me, only TT & HYH are great songs. All other three I would definitely call them fillers... much too cheesy. Just my taste, anyway! 🙂

I think they were also a time where Paul was considering making a solo CD. But opted out of it and decided to just do a solo tour instead. Gene and Paul were hardly speaking at this point. Gene was not that interested in KISS anymore and Paul was getting fed up with carrying the band all throughout the 80s.

i am not sure that is 100% accurate. in the fall of '88, Kiss released Smashes/Thrashes and Hits. They filmed two music videos to promote the record, with the 1st one getting some airplay. With no plans to tour to promote the album, Paul decided to put together a brief solo tour: 1-to do something during the downtime & 2-a chance to promote that album. It would not be until the summer of '89 when Kiss would return to the studio to quickly record the Hot In The Shade Album. Kiss was so poor and down n out that the record label would not give them enough $$ to properly record the drums. Instead, Kiss was forced to use the "demos" of Eric Carr playing drums for the actual album. Does not get much lower than that.

The more I think of it, although I've been a Kiss fan since '78, I've probably been more of a Paul Stanley fan. In the 80s, Paul could've done so much better as a solo artist than being held back by Gene.

Great writing , singing (Paul pushing his voice , how would this sound with his 70s deeper ,soulful voice with a draw ..like from R&RO , LG , ALIVE 2 or His SOLO) All that time were he pushed for the HIGHER REGISTER , he hurt his voice chords ..made for great singing and performances but it lumped him in with Bon Jovi 80s hair band singers .Not a good move KISS should have always led the pack ..they were ALL ( Bon Jovi, Motley Cru , AEROSMITH ETC ) trying to write the NEXT I W M F L Y.....I always wondered what ANIMALIZ, ASYLUM , CRAZY NIGHTS would have sounded like in more of KISS' S CLASSIC 70s style ..🤟

Because as a band, you want a diversity in the songs for one album, otherwise it would have been an Paul Stanley solo album instead of a kiss record. But I like Paul's songs way more too, they are timeless and have more soul in it

It's not raunchy enough or dumbed down enough. Gene obviously had a say-so in the songs you mentioned. Paul's lyrics, while not really deep, are much better than Gene's.
