Such a great lesson. I find myself going back and back to make sure I have the concepts. A really valuable lesson in a comparable short time. Thanks, John

Can'tk tell you what a godsend this has been,im a drummer but fell in love with the steel when 'old man' hit in 70 and then had the privilege of playing with Steve Malcai in Colorado Springs from 80 thru 84 and was obsessed with learning! 3 years ago i fell into a 'couldn't resist' deal in a carter starter 10 string single(3 pedals and knee levers,and there its sat till today! "IVE GOT BLISTERS ON MY FINGERS" as lennon would say. Wait i can't-picks and bar-im really doin something wrong 😊 ! Thanks Paul-keep em comin,, br

I have just started playing my Emmons E9 4L 3P after 22 years in storage, these lessons really help as I did not know any steel players back then and just blundered my way through by trial and lots of error i'm afraid. Enjoying it more now thanks to guy's like you who are taking the time to upload these videos. Thx Philip

This is excellent Paul, thank you very much. I’m Day set up but my left knee left lowers my Es. Your videos are great, I found your B&C pedal lesson particularly helpful. Thank you for going to all this trouble.

Michael: I play a D10 steel so I have the C6th neck to play C6th style. As a result, I really haven't work on playing pseudo C6th on the E9 neck. I probably not the person to provide the lesson you're looking for. Sorry I can't help on that one. Regards. Paul

Rob: Learning any musical instrument is somewhat like learning a foreign language. Once you have things memorized it's a lot easier. Don't expect to learn everything at once. Our brains simply don't work that way. A little bit every day is the best approach. Good luck, and enjoy the journey.

Hi Paul, What kind of expression pedal do you use? Or what kind would you recommend for a early 70's Sho-Bud Maverick. Thanks Mike/Ohio
@psscjs10 жыл бұрын
Mike: I use an old Goodrich pot pedal, model 120, but any volume pedal designed for steel guitar should work fine for you.

Hi Paul, Thanks! I really appreciate your lessons. I've been playing guitar for over forty years and I just picked up this used Sho-Bud. You make learning fun and easy to understand. See ya soon.

What does the knee lever do? What strings?Do u have it change?
@psscjs11 жыл бұрын
Steve: Review the video at 1:01 and you'll have your answer. "The knee lever lowering the Es." That's obviously strings 4 & 8 on a standard E9 10 string neck.

The first guy set up a guitar, was it the wrong setup...? Who Knows? David Jackson said Buddy didn't wanna play like Jimmy Day & Buddy Isaacs, so his REVERSED copedent was born & followed to this point in time. Ergonomics was not discovered back then. Jimmy Liked rolling his ankle out (the way it's made to work) thus the Jimmy Day WAY was discovered. I have 3 pedals & 3 knee levers on my Pedal Steel, that are actuated by my left foot & left knee. Lots of Music there...

'Day' set-up on an EMMONS! Terrible! LOL
@mrpoolplayer63799 жыл бұрын
+George Buller The Jackson Steel Guitar company told me that Buddy, Jimmy & Bud Isaccs defined the copedent. Buddy was in a rivalry with Jimmy, so he said he wasn't gonna play like Jimmy, so he went his way. I like the Jimmy Day copedent, it works better for human anatomy...IMHO
