In May, when reporters called the idea that the virus came from the lab a "conspiracy theory" and social media companies even banned discussion of that idea, Rand Paul helped inform the public that there’s a good chance it’s true.
Now even Anthony Fauci admits, "it could have been a lab leak.”
President Biden eventually ordered intel agencies to investigate that possibility.
When he did that, Facebook, KZbin, and Twitter stopped banning the idea.
There was lots of evidence all along.
Social media companies should just stop banning ideas.

Just from what I know as a nurse at the bedside for 20 yrs in a clinical research cancer hospital, and 40 years total, any of you saying that masks don't work is bullshit. When children and family are dying around you, you will change your tune. This virus is a monster, nursing has never been harder or less fulfilling, and my compassion is now broken. Fauci has studied virology for decades. Paul does eyeballs, he is not an epidemiologist/infectious disease doc. Even working in pediatric oncology, MDs specialized in subsets of cancer. Some leukemia, lymphoma, some brain tumors, some bone tumors, some soft tissue tumors. The treatments are all different. Different chemos kill cancer cells at different phases of the cycle. Some get them when they are dividing, some get them between divisions, etc. Nothing is so simple. If one of my grandkids got a brain tumor, I'd be going to a brain tumor doc, not leukemia or bone cancer doc, and they will be pediatric specialists. Just being an MD doesn't mean they know anything about another specialty, because keeping up with information in your own subspecialty is hard enough. Cancer docs do a fellowship as a physician to specialize and take tests in that specialized area to be certified. Those fellowships last at least 3 yrs and the fellows, who are legitimate doctors, cannot write chemo orders until the fellowship is complete. Same with specializing in epidemiology or ophthalmology. I seriously don't think Fauci would ever argue anything Rand Paul says about medical eye care. They also continue their education constantly to stay current with new information in their field, which changes rapidly due to science. This is not as simple an issue as all that. I think the whole GD country has forgotten what nuance is. Besides that all of the infectious disease docs I know are standing with Fauci, and they are smarter than me and you about that topic. I'll trust them with decisions about keeping my grandchildren safe from the GD deadly disease before I trust armchair infectious disease docs, even if they have MD behind their name. I am not going to an endocrinologist for my cardiac or pulmonary issues. I'm not going to a urologist for a neurological issue. Just sit and think about that for a minute. Nuance damn it. WTF?

I went through every “cited” study on the CDC website when the released mask guidelines back in March-April 2020. Not a single study conclusively demonstrated any clinical benefit regarding viral infection. With a little common sense and scrutiny, one can easily see these big organizations have more interest in power than actual effective medical guidelines.

But since March or april of 2020 healthcare professionals wear them all of the time. That has never changed. I've been wearing one daily for a yr and a half, and wore them frequently prior to covid to protect my patients and myself. I'm not sure why they all of a sudden they quit working after my 40 yrs of being a nurse. It changed one time in march/April of 2020 when we learned more about the GD new/novel virus. There is a learning curve to everything that's new. What is so unusual about that? Medical professionals have more interest in effective medical guidelines than power. I've spent 40 yr trying to care for and keep myself and patients safe, was working when HIV/AIDS was new. As we learned more, our safety measures changed. Scientific knowledge is NOT necessarily linear. We learn as we go, when we know more we change practice to coincide with the new knowledge. I just don't understand how this is such a difficult concept, except they aren't teaching the basics of the scientific process anymore. Because science is a process, a method, not a body of knowledge.

Read the label on “dust” masks, even the “good” N95 type. You would think the manufacturer of a mask knows what it is good for and NOT good for. Not saying they do not do “anything”, but I believe they are “spit shields” at best and their capabilities are being grossly over sold.

The virus is smaller than the holes in most masks and they don't fit tightly. They basically just block spit and large particles. There's no evidence that they significantly slow the spread. If everyone properly wore N95s, that would be effective, but good luck.

I don't follow regularly, but over the years I have always appreciated Stossel's openness to present multiple sides of a story. I have often disagreed with his conclusions, but even then he was willing to acknowledge competing ideas. In this current age of journalism (or lack thereof), he is certainly rare in a good way.

I think it was intended to be at some point. I can't imagine China funding research on something that wouldn't be useful in that capacity somehow down the road. The question is if it's release was intentional or accidental when it happened. Especially considering they knew about it and still encouraged their population to travel all over the world. So if not intentionally released, they certainly took advantage of it.

KZbin is great for most non-poltical info (home repairs, coding, etc). The problem is that nearly everything is becoming political: game reviews, history, art, etc. I'm a self taught game dev as a hobby (just for fun, won't ever make money) and KZbin is my primary source of learning. But one of the channels I follow got a strike a while back for 'an overly sexualized female NPC' and 'promoting violence against women.' Think He-man like art style, every character was over the top, and most were killed :) But he only got in 'trouble' for the female characters. Things are only going to get worst... the crazy train has no brakes...
