I miss this era of skating, it was the best. Paul is such a sweetheart and so artistic. His spins, his posture, body position, speed on the ice and his footwork are fabulous.

I miss seeing Paul skate --- had a major crush on him as a teen. I know there were better technical skaters but, he was the best at bringing everyone into his skating.

Paul was seriously robbed of a gold medal. WTF, a 5.3 from Finland? He was exquisite and perfect. This Finnish judge was on drugs I think.

Agreed. If Paul hadn't been intentionally held back in the SP, he would have won gold because he won the LP in Albertville. He should have been no lower than 2nd going into the LP. Instead, Petrenko won gold with a LP where he missed 4 jumps with other serious errors. His LP is easily the most unworthy performance of an Olympic gold medalist ever. Just another example of deal-making by the Eastern Bloc countries back in the day of the 6.0 system. The Code of Points used today isn't perfect, but I'm glad the 6.0 system is gone forever.

5.3-5.5 for technical? For a flawless performance? 5.4-5.6 for artistic? Paul Wylie was the most artistic skater of his generation. The ONLY reason he lost the gold is because he was held back to 3rd place in the SP. He should at least have been 2nd. Just more Eastern Bloc deal-making back in the day so Petrenko could win...even after missing 4 jumps with other errors in his LP. SO glad the 6.0 system is gone forever.

La Valse is not easy to choreograph nor to skate to. I hadn't seen anyone perform to this music so exquisitely since Janet Lynn did it...all the way back in...1973!

This was Paul Wiley's finest moment; I've watched the video 100 times. NOTE TO COMMENTATOR: Tsk-tsk. The list of Harvard Grads/Olympic Medalists you gave was INCOMPLETE. You forgot Surgeon Tenley Albright. She overcame polio, won 5 straight U.S. Championships, 2 World Championships, an Olympic Gold medal in 1956 & Silver in 1952. In 2005, Dr. Albright founded & became director of MIT's Collaborative Initiatives

He's great! The only thing that annoys me about his skating is he always stands there for what seems like an hour, before he moves, even though the music has already started. Does that bother anyone else?? I just want to say.. get it going boyfriend, I mean shit!!!!!
