Great performance! Both of you have awesome voices, but Paula is the most underrated female singer in the business IMO. I've seen/heard her do this song with Gabriel and it was amazing, but this version is almost as good. I'm glad I happened to stumble upon this; thanks for sharing! Peace be with you...

Loved Paula as usual. Steve has a great voice and a great sense of timing. That's a hard but beautiful song. If he's not singing for a living, he should be! I would pay for a ticket to see him!!!

Did Paula mention "Mannheim" ? I was there November 1993 - at the end the "So-maniacs" were exspecting "Don`t give Up", but PG didn`t play it, but i think it was Paula`s 1st concert with the PG-Band.

those were fans ("maniacs" in a positive sense) who were a bit drunk (of course it was "party time", a great show, comeback after 6 or 7 years, etc.). They wanted to hear "Don`t Give Up", which was a big hit from "So" and present in the Radio. One Girl was also dissapointed, because "Red Rain" wasn`t played on that Show. Therefore he played "Here Comes the Flood" on piano in German at the end.

@@withavee ... You really should go by "Steven" or maybe add your middle initial to your name to prevent confusion. It wouldn't be the first time someone had to do that. Once upon a time their was a singer named David Jones who had to change his name to prevent confusion with Davy Jones of the Monkees. So he changed his name to David Bowie! Hope that worked out for him! 😉

I have heard a lot of covers of this song and it just doesn't work for me without Peter Gabriel's voice. It's a big part of selling the verse. The timing also seems weird in this version.

Was hoping for the real Steve Perry and I get this lummox?? Not a great voice at all. Horrible tonal quality. Has to go into falsetto to hit many notes. Paula is excellent, however. This song was way out of his vocal range. NOT even close. Bring it down two Steve. Oh, and why so nasal??
