Chopin has always had a special place in my heart , cause of his ability to convey a wide range of emotions and feelings in the space of a few bars. not an easy composer to interpret, especially with the tempo, but when you nail it , there's nothing like it. with some nocturnes I get some heavy cases of synesthesia and my mind wanders, fully formed images take shape in my imagination and I am transported in another place and time, with a series of differents moods and sensorial experiences.

Would you say Nocturne op.9 no.1 in B flat minor is more difficult to learn? Cause I'm currently struggling a bit too much with that piece and I am considering first trying a Nocturne that's a bit easier (like this C# minor one perhaps).

@DerisedEgami9 жыл бұрын
MDkid1 I suppose the same can be said about the cadenza's in Liebestraum 3. I memorized the whole song, but just couldn't get the runs.
@MDkid19 жыл бұрын
DerisedEgami Slower tempo does it, fit together the notes that go together and every other note, fit it in between. Its a little hard to explain but if you practice it SLOWLY that way, it will eventually start to fit together smoothly and at tempo.
@DerisedEgami9 жыл бұрын
MDkid1 Is it better to practice the hands seperately, and then put them together, or is it more beneficial to practice them together?
@MDkid19 жыл бұрын
DerisedEgami You might want to practice it separately to get incredibly comfortable with the passage itself, but when you go to put it together its as if you'll be playing it like it was completely new to you. I'd recommend not spending too much time on separate playing, but to start practicing it together as soon as you feel comfortable. Its like a jigsaw puzzle you are trying to piece together.

Paul, quick question - My score has a grace note (e) before the F#-G# trill in M5, M46, and other spots. You don't seem to hit this. The reason I ask is my teacher felt the grace note should be played on beat 3, whereas I was playing it just before beat 3, with the trill on beat 3. That's why I was specifically playing your video slowly. Thoughts? If you were to play that grace note, would you play it on the beat or just slightly preceding it? Thanks!!!

i started playing piano not so long ago, and i love everything about chopin, but i know i still can´t play it. do you have tips to improve piano playing?
@mikhaelamores55598 жыл бұрын
try playing it slower in the first sheet in any music then memorize it. check the scales if it is c major c minor e maj e min etc . practice the scale 3-4 times the. your good to go. 1 tip watch out for changing scales it may confuse your mind. if you want a entertaining peice try rachmaninoff prelude in g minor i am still at page 4 there its very fun in practocing it. try the waltz of chopin too.
@Assassunn8 жыл бұрын
yes, try the A minor waltz of chopin, this is the easiest one

Forgive my ignorance, but how can a piece of music be C# minor? Is it sharp, or minor? I'm only 12mths into classical sight reading method so not up to this yet
@maxcallaway78796 жыл бұрын
The two most common modes used are major and minor, not sharp and minor. You can build a scale off any of the 12 notes with either of these - in this case, a c# minor scale would start on c# and then go d#, e, f#, g#, a, b, c#.

For me that part represents his memories he had with his sister (who died before he composed this piece) and then the change back to the sad key represents the fact that they were only memories. It is fucking brilliant and macabre
