You know, I was just asking who was doing YOUR new thumbnails, because they looked so professional. I do my own, Inkscape too; of course, maybe you're being facetious... hmmm

I snagged a faulty A1466 board for a tenner intending to use it as a donor. It was listed as a 4GB 1.4Ghz 2014, but it was actually a 2015 8Gb model. Its only faults were missing clips on some connectors. Well chuffed.

That's a good win. Those 2015 8GB boards are definitely still perfectly good at running with today's demands for many things.

Excellent video. One of the best that I have found on You Tube. You spent a lot of time editing this video and it shows. Thanks Paul.

One that used to get us a bit at one stage back in the 90s was we had a workshop with inverter UPS power that was always right on the nail, so we could miss issues that were being caused by dodgy power/brownouts/marginal PSUs

Good luck with the new video format Paul, hopefully will get you some more views.

Thanks - live streams will still happen; I had planned on one tonight but I have to do a long drive tomorrow and I generally try not to double-dose YT within 24hrs.

00:25 The red USB tool that Paul inserted into the board is the new updated CMIzapper Chipmunk with a Ground plug and is available from www.cmizapper.com/products/usb-tester.html The Chipmunk helps determine if certain vital power states are alive and gives a better indication of a successful repair than "someone" declaring fan spin with its pretty LEDs. 04:05 The schematic software that Paul is using is his own excellent *FlexBV* and you too can have a copy and speed up your MacBook and iPhone repairs. pldaniels.com/flexbv/ *FlexBV* is the software of choice for board level repair Professionals. *FlexBV* has a perpetual license which means you only pay once and you can use it for life. The *FlexBV* license does not time out. 👍 13:03 *KITTY!!!*

That "someone" explained in a video that once a machine boots again, it goes to another desk where they do extensive tests to make sure that all the ports work. So it's not just "fan spin, done, ka-ching". Just saying...

Real quick I was wondering if you can help. My macbook air 2017 (A1466) has recently stopped booting up, the device does charge but won't boot up, I have tried to force boot it from re connecting the battery cable on the inside but it still doesn't work. Any ideas?
@pldaniels3 жыл бұрын
Many possible reasons for that. Do you have a multimeter / magnifying lens? Sounds like you've tried the normal options and are now looking at the possibility of a damaged logic board.

corrosion has this neat trick. the deep it is causes resistance in the circuit. And it changes as things Move around, esp. when there are temp changes that cause Physical Expansion and contraction inside. ASK your car as things get cold or Very hot. Batteries hate the cold, and every thing Tightens up, and can cause a few Screws to come loose. And your engine wasnt designed for the cold either. And why you should let it Warn on those cold days.

Great video so far. But you really need to curse at something while doing this. How is the real estate market for cat kennels these days?

@@pldaniels Okay have to admit after watching it all the way through, I could focus on what you were doing far better in the near silence. I still want to hear your thoughts on cat kennel real estate, maybe once you hit 100K subs. :)

Apple stores don't care. No point in buying Apple Care as it actually means Apple (couldn't) Care (less).
