Great video +Paul Davids you have the best tutorials! :) I believe your diagram for the Abm isn't correct though you play it correctly in the video. If you look at your diagram it should be press down on the 5th string with the ring finger and the 4th string in this case the B should be open as you stated in the video.

When I try to play the B chord the way Chris Martin does it with his thumb, my palm ends up muting the first string, so I bar the last 3 strings with my index finger. It’s a lot more pressure on the finger but for me it’s a solution to get that 1st string ringing. Thank you for the video! This is a great tutorial! I had no idea the “secret” behind this song was changing the tuning of the 1st and the 4th string. I love the bright sound these chords are making!

I always underestimated this song for sounding too beautiful with probably-very-simple chords. ...surprise!! now it's twice beautiful and am loving the challenge of learning how to play it. What makes it sound btfl is the fact that 2 strings are actually tuned in the same note. Less is more. And viceversa. Gonna take me some time until I learn using my thomb, never did it before. Thanks for sharing. Btw, I did liked it and suscribed!

@@JoeMurphysGuitarlessons It's always the best creative outlet when a player composes their own music. But that said, it is generally more difficult to "copy songs" with convincing accuracy. This is a great lesson, thank you. One small addition would be when you play the Emaj7, it is easier _not_ to use the pointer finger on your left hand as you do playing a regular E7 shape. Instead use your middle and ring finger as Chris does in the live videos. This way it is way easier to just slide that shape back up to the B chord without fumbling. Once you do it a couple times the B chord becomes an easy grip and you can see why Chris chooses to do it that way.
