Hello, Paul. I closely watch and listen to your hymn reharmonizations with great interest. Your chords are complex, with more notes than is typical of most traditional hymns, making for a richer and more complex sound. I never tire of listening. You are really gifted in creating beautiful harmonies.
@PaulFey2 жыл бұрын
I‘m so happy to hear that, Charles! Thank you 😀 Yes, I‘m usually playing more voices than the regular 4-part harmonies - but this depends on the music and mood of the hymn.

You "arrange" as well as you play; your talent is something very special! E.M. Skinner organs are some of my favorites, here in the U.S.. One of the "greats" is in the Girard College Chapel, Philadelphia; there's a new Organ Media Foundation video that demonstrates the stops, and gives a chamber tour. If you have time, you might enjoy it, though the demo is not even close to the high quality of yours! 😁💯🐧

0:44 still digging the socks. It works for you. You relax not just my ears and eyes but even my feet and toes. Your choice is good too for this instrument. My socks are strips, polka dots, stars, animals and I make an effort to see that they never match. 0:45 great artwork on the wall. I have a big collection of Crayola colors. Nonetheless, you made that penguin come alive too, several times. Keep playing and the room will look like a penguin zoo. Who cares, I'm listening. 00:00 --> 02:28 one of my top 3 favorite works of hymnal music. As always, you give it justice. Timing perfect, and done with passion as always. You make each music score come alive (you know what you are doing). You are incredibly talented. And there you go again (2:28--> 4:48) with my "top 3" favorite Easter selections. 04:49 - sing this every Sunday. Very creative arrangement. I give up. 00:00--> 99:99 It's pretty addicting listening and watching you perform. I should know, 4 of my 6 browser tabs are all of you. Event though I have 2 ears, I can only enjoy 1 video at a time. Hate cutting my comments short but I have somewhere I need to be by 2026. I enjoyed these arrangements.

Dear Paul; pure self-indulgence and like any good and happy organist you allow your heart to sing out at Easter. Praise be. I like the lot. Memories. To pick one -this year - I would go for 'All creatures...'. Two reasons. It's not just an Easter special in the UK, you would find it 'cropping up' any time. It's celebratory praise. And this year in London it was sung at Prince Philip's memorial service three weeks ago at Westminster Abbey - one of the three hymns he had chosen for his funeral service. Apparently it was a particular favourite of his. These hymns trigger that deepest sense of my knowing I am alive in God. Wow...
@PaulFey2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching, Trevor! So true - it’s used all over the year here too 😀
@jdbreaux80802 жыл бұрын
I can't speak for the U.S., I don't get there often however "All creatures..." is the United Methodist Doxology we sing each Sunday during worship in Texas. Probably true for the other Methodist's in the other 49 States. I would guess the World Methodist sing it frequently as well.
@jtrevm2 жыл бұрын
@@jdbreaux8080 Hi JD: good to know the Texas / US Doxology practice. In the UK - the old Methodist hymn book had 'the ' Doxology as 'Praise God from Whom all blessings etc.' Unfortunately it wasn't often sung at the end of the service. Sad. I now live in Germany and depend on the Tube for a UK service - and always Trinity Coll Cambridge. They know their Glorias for anthems etc and can blow the rafters off. Interesting that you have the 'Texas' Doxology. Prince Philip chose well in wanting his final words to be Allelujah.....great man.
@jdbreaux80802 жыл бұрын
@@jtrevm We haven't quite shaken the rafters but the orchestra, organ and choir caused the chandler over the string section during Christmas candlelight service PRACTICE (the day before the service) fell out of the ceiling. It dropped about 30" and only the power wires connecting it to the structure kept it from hitting anyone/anything. And praise be to God it was repaired early the following afternoon. Needless to say, we had all the chandlers checked out as well as the sealings on the stain glass windows. I think we annoy the Catholic and Baptists two blocks away. We are located across from the Dallas Museum of Art. so, we all (the full congregation) do have a deep appreciation of the arts and want God to hear us praise and glorify him for his grace and our eternal lives. In honor to Prince Philip, all I have to say now is "Alleluia, Amen!"
@jtrevm2 жыл бұрын
@@jdbreaux8080 Sounds quite and adventure with the chandlers - pleased that your Catholic and Baptist bretheren didn't have some entertainment. I rely on YTube for my inputs - given my exile to Germany and thus nil Anglican offerings. I watch Trinity College Cambridge choral evensong on Sundays. They can occasionally rupture their rather splendid chapel rafters. Worth a glance. They're currently going through a spell of early English settings - quite wonderful if that gets you. For a regular example recommend a Stanford at their 'Trinity College 8 March 2020 Service in A Magnificat' - pre-COVID. If you really want to see interesting rafters job - see Westminster Abbey get a blast on 'Praise to the Lord Almighty on the Commonwealth Day Service 2020. Last outing for Harry and William in the UK.... Don't normally recommend. It's only here if haven't anything else to do for a minute. Trevor.

If they were hymns nobody knew, fine. But doing this to familiar hymns draws attention away from the hymn and draws attention to the changes -- some of which seemed to be mere gimmicks, isolated, and not integrated into the harmony as a whole. Others' opinions vary, of course. Hymns are worship, not concert pieces...
@PaulFey2 жыл бұрын
Well, these harmonizations are supposed to be used for workship - I‘m awaiting your arrangement on these for comparison, Ed 😀 Happy Easter!
@jdbreaux80802 жыл бұрын
It certainly failed to distract me, my attention. But you are right we all have our opinions. I disagree. Everyone of us has their own individual, personal relationship with Christ just as you have expressed. Paul is truly making a joyful noise to the Lord in his own way and kind enough to share his work . The relationship with Christ is a personal one and seems to me God wants to hear more from Paul. Most of what I have read and heard regarding Paul he clearly connects with a great deal of people. The angles are taking notice as well as the body of Christ on this earth and in earth orbit. Our minds were intended to grow in Christ and that is exactly what Paul is doing. You believe in tradition and even more, but we all have Christ and we all love him in our own ways. You can remain traditional and I respect your choice. Personally i find Paul's hard work refreshing and keeps this body of Christ growing. Whatever it takes to spread the word of God is wholeheartedly respected and enjoyed by me, not just his brother in Christ but you, our brother as well. I respect your choice of tradition but these pieces have always been changed throughout our time in this limited.dimension. Do a bit of digging and you may be shocked at what you learn as it relates to hymnal (any spiritual) melodies We are only here on earth for a limited amount of time. In this limited time I invite new perspectives. I do not go looking for change, but when it is introduced with love and passion, well, I think this world needs a lot more of that. God does not want his children (all/any of us) to argue, but to love each other and agree to disagree sometimes because nothing is more important to our Savior for this earth. It is our differences that bind us together and makes us stronger. At the end of the day we share the very same passion in the body of Christ. Each of us needs to respect each other and know we are in, and never will be in any position to judge or condemn any part of the Body of Christ. How dare us to do so. I have heard hundreds of spiritual scores that I do not care for, at all, but I find Paul to be genuine, passionate and loving about his music. Whether we like his music or not, he remains my brother every much as you are my brother. We love Christ and we are passionate about it. Tradition is important. It is very important to me as well. It is only healthy to hear what you have to say and even if just you and I disagree, you too remain my loving brother in Christ. I am trying to do what I believe benefits the body of Christ. God is watching us now and knows our hearts 💕. What are we doing in a positive manner to bring others to Christ and keep them interested? If our expressions are not grounded in love, we are doing something very wrong. Just the absences of goodness is by default wickedness. I will have disagreements with others going forward, but I know everyone is different, no better, no worse. We all fail short of God's grace and we are all sinners. Every single one of us. We are only as sick as our darkest secrets. I awaken with God and I go to sleep with him everyday. He knows my heart (our hearts) better than I/we do. You please stand up for tradition. It is very important, important to me too. I understand where you are coming from. Most of the time you and I would probably agree on things, probably more so than me and Paul. If anything, he needs love and positive guidance and help from you and I for his soul to grow, to explode in the body of Christ and expand so much that others needing to hear "the word" will stand up and take notice. Time to continue spreading Gods word, a joyful noise in our own way. 💜🙏🏻
