The nice thing about proprietary ammunition, is that you know it's engineered specifically for the firearm in question. The bad thing about proprietary ammunition, is everything else.

@@nameredacted6111 Agreed… I’ve liked their products since they were introduced. And obviously with it being a multi caliber pistol… that’s a plus as far as ammo affordability. But Paul’s accuracy testing might have shown that to be not an optimal solution. Considering you could buy almost 3 handguns… or a handgun AND a rifle for the same cost… It’s not a very practical pistol. But like you said… if you got the extra money… why not?🤷‍♂️🤣👍

I've been watching reviews of the FK Brno in 7.5 for about 2 years. They shot everything from body armor with ceramic plates , clay blocks , soda jugs, blocks of wood , steel targets. This all being very impressive , but it was all at close range. After watching those I was still a believer of the 357 mag or 44 mag with the right ammo, just as good for anything I'm going to face. Paul went a lot farther in his presentation by putting the ammo , pistol in a perspective that is in a real world. Not one of the other did any presentation shot at a 100 meters/ yards just to show the true power of this cartridge. As for me if there was a black bear at a 100 yards away I plan on keeping that buffer .but that's just me

The only other person that I saw shoot the 7.5fk out to 100 yards at 3A body armor was Iraqveteran8888, and in that video, the 101 grain also went right through the armor. Even though I likely have a better chance of winning the lottery than having to use a 7.5fk in a scenario where I'm shooting at threats 100 yards away wearing 3A......you feel an unusual sense of security knowing that you can carry around that capability. For wilderness guides, armored car drivers, and rear echelon military troops (truck drivers, etc) the trade offs seem worth it. Much easier to carry one of these than a .45-70 for bear or an AR for human adversaries. And while the smaller 5.7mm was also designed to face armor, I'm not even sure 5.7mm would do the same amount of damage to an unarmored adversary at 100 yards. They should print "Loaded for bear" on the ammo!

By design. The FK Field pistol from which this is derived was intended to give security personnel a weapon that could engage armored opponents out to 100M or more and be able to be carried concealed like a handgun. I think the 7.5FK cartridge has a lot of potential for handguns and PCCs (pistol caliber carbines) and could really make the PDW concept a very viable alternate to a full size rifle or a short barreled rifle.

Excellent review! One comment on the factory sight setting: In Europe it is very common to set the point of aim lower to accomodate for the standard sporting pistol target which has a white background and a black center. Ideally, you can aim at the lower edge of the black center, giving you a center hit into the black target zone. This helps you consistently to find your point of aim.

When you engaged the safety with your thumb in the beginning, I thought you had pulled the trigger for some reason at the same time, but rewatching shows otherwise. If you were wondering, the issue where you cannot curl your thumb without curling your pointer is called 'Linburg-Comstock variation' which causes a piece of connective tissue to form erroneously between the tendons for those two fingers. I could never figure out why I had that issue myself, so with the help of Google I managed to figure it out. Hope it answers a question you may have had in the past about yourself, and have a good day.

Great review! Keep in mind this pistol/caliber was developed for Contractors working overseas inside vehicles and in places where carrying a rifle was a no go. It was developed to have the same ballistic effect as an AK pistol to 100 meters. Of course, we wanted that here! We will (most likely) never use it in those types of conditions...But...I would certainly use it as a protection firearm (that I could conceal under a jacket) in the back country or if they every do away with pistol braces, it could be my new truck gun. Just my thoughts.

Just an FYI, Brno is just the name of the city in Czechia where the company is based. So it would be pronounced as a single word, not an abbreviation.

@@ScottKenny1978 I believe the Czech pronunciation "br" is like "bur" or "brr"(like it's cold outside) and "no" is the same in English but the "n" is paired with the "o" to form a syllable separate from the "Br" part, but I think you got it close enough.

When that first reading came back as 2000 fps I was absolutely gobsmacked. I knew those rounds must be hot based on the recoil from those first two demo shots, but I wasn't expecting THAT.

The guy who contacted you, Elvis, he works at my local range and he's the one who taught my CCW class, actually did a 4 hour course and went through different laws and scenarios, very good course, way better than the bare minimum 45 minute courses most people do. Very cool guy and it's fantastic that someone is developing something new rather than another glock/AR clone.

Fantastic review Paul. Sounds like the FK BRNO is a “one size fits all” type of setup, where a person gets a hunting, plinking, personal defense pistol all in one pistol. 7.5 FK for hunting, 10mm for personal defense and 9mm for plinking as a cheaper cartridge. It looks heavy, but it appears as a relatively standard size duty pistol. Very interesting.
@sinisterthoughts2896
@sinisterthoughts2896 3 жыл бұрын
Seems quite large and heavy, he said 38 ounces, for carry. And the 9mm wouldn't be too great for training, since it would change the point of impact and especially the recoil characteristics. Still an interesting and powerful pistol for hunting and such.

@hanuman3527 3 жыл бұрын
@@sinisterthoughts2896 not really too heavy as a duty pistol, as a Colt Govt. .45 ACP is 35 oz and the Beretta 92X performance i believe is 47oz. Edit to get the weights correct per manu. Info.

@@hanuman3527 The heck? A pound heavier than the 92f? Is it steel instead of the normal alloy? A long slide steel version might make a good competition pistol but it doesn't sound like something that goes in a carry rig.
