Here, I have taken the plunge and removed the carburettors, and checking them over revealed some issues which I was able to deal with.

Good tip, Wd-40 is soluble with fuel and will burn off through combustion, so it's ok to use it if you're going to re-install the carb right away. But it dries to an oily film. I've found that using aerosol electrical contact cleaner also works great. It evaporates in seconds with no residue. Good piece of mind if you're re-building a carb for storage.

The thing I dislike most about my Interceptor is R&I of those damn carbs. I'd love to see a video of how you set them up, unless there is one I've missed.

Nice work as usual Personally i prefer a 689 and a 389 rather than a chopped mono Maybe sugest that to the owner if there's many more problems with that setup

Thanks for showing how to confirm pilot jets are clear. Those seem to get overlooked by folks saying they cleaned their carbs in my experience. Also, are you concerned with the paper gasket one carb side vs thick insulator "gasket" other carb side? Have heard the insulator material does not make a good air tight seal unless some kind of sealant is also applied (wellseal, hylomar or silicone type etc).

Thanks - it's ok, both carbs have an insulator / spacer, with a paper gasket on either side.

My Mk 1.5's don't even have round holes for the throttles. Garbage.

Well, they would have been round when they were made, must have been treated roughly. The three MK1's on my Trident were fitted to it in 1974 and still work fine and plenty of my videos will back this up.

Brand new in the 90's - there were some poor reproductions around at that time. The genuine old ones - pre Monoblocs, Monoblocs and MK1's I have on many of my machines have honestly been fine, as well as some MK2's I have worked with. That said, I am not the biggest fan of the MK1's, Amal did a better job with the Monoblocs and MK2's.
