Extremely avoidable, even when the dude went to get into Paulie’s face, that still wasn’t even a full on brawl. Paulie is the one that decides to smash him in the face with a bottle escalating it to that point

As entertaining and well loved Paulie is as a character he really is a scumbag. Besides insulting the Russian and breaking his Universal remote he also robs and suffocates an old woman for her savings, keeps half the money that was supposed to go to Sal Vitro’s broken arm, shoots a waiter dead while he’s having a seizure, sniffs his friend’s fiancées panties while he’s rooting through said friends belongings, and talks to Johnny Sac about his family’s private matters. Those are just a few of many petty things Paulie does during the show. True criminal behavior.

Funny....Funny how? How is universal remote funny. Like its here to amuse you. How the fuck is universal remote funny.

The way the fights are put together is so good, they’re realistic to the point where a fight is usually a comically awkward and pathetic looking thing

The only annoying thing about this episode is that I think this was a turning point in how they would use Paulie from then on. I liked him a lot more in the first 2 seasons, he was a lot less comic relief and more badass. For the rest of the show, he was a complaining, lonely, one-liner machine. With a few cool moments mixed in

It was by design.

Early Paulie was a real Lufthansa-era wiseguy. The type of dudes they made Goodfellas about. The level of bonehead they had him sink to was depressing. Tony looked at Paulie with Scorsese glasses on, thinking him so historically important to the crew, and it would somehow be 'wrong' to clip him.
@jeremygunther94032 жыл бұрын
@@listentothenightfilms I think it’s that as much as he fucked up Tony still loved paulie. And I think the admiration that he personally had for paulie as a kid sort of blinded him
@Avengerie2 жыл бұрын
I think they completely jumped the shark with the character when he killed his mother's elderly friend over nothing. The show is beloved, and deservedly so, but there were so many shark-jumping and fanservice moments (e.g. the Vipers) that you notice upon rewatch, that it loses its lustre.
@listentothenightfilms2 жыл бұрын
@@Avengerie Tony's hilarious impression of the bikers "We're widd da vipers!" and the look on his face when pretending to be the Grizzly Adams motherfucker seeing the gat made it all worth it.
