I have never seen a boxer commentator who knows and explains boxing like Paulie.I bet , he is one of the most educated boxers out there irrespective of his formal education level .,His full command of English language peppered with sports phrases is a beauty. Even though he speaks really fast, Paulie is amazing as analyst and can, at least in my opinion, communicate pretty well what's happening inside the ring. He gets into the technical details but not so much so the viewers can't comprehend it. For Jones, he knows pretty well the technical aspects of boxing (I find this amusing since he was, and still is, a very unorthodox fighter) but it seems he has a hard time getting to the point. At the same time I agree with the guy above, Roy Jones can answer well when Lampley asks about things during the fight.

Billy2011C I'd have to strongly disagree with that. Pacquiao was definitely on Floyd's level five (5) years ago by every indication there was. Which is why, of course, everyone wanted the fight so badly then. Since then, and after Pacquiao became a major Christian, he just doesn't seem like the same fighter. I actually thinking getting KOd by Marquez made him a better fighter in terms of defense, but he does seem to have lost some of his killer instinct. Also, the latest fight with Mayweather was a travesty b/c Pacquiao should have never fighting injured. And, I guess he did, because there was so much pressure given all the money, etc. Floyd did everything he was supposed to, too, but we never even saw Manny try to implement what we all knew should have been his game plan. If he had done that, from the start, and Floyd kept him from implementing it, that would be one thing, but from the beginning of round 1, he actually tried to box Mayweather in a traditional way. And, Roach - his cornerman - never even said a word. It was a total farce. WIth a good game plan and fully healthy, a much better fight, but Floyd would win I would imagine.

It's very rare a fighter goes into the ring 100% healthy. Every interview I've seen with boxers and trainers, even Bob Arum, have all said the same. A lot of the same people have said Pacquiao showed no signs during the fight and in between rounds that he was hurt. Nothing was said by Roach or Manny in between rounds about a bad shoulder. 5 years ago the result would have been the same.

Billy2011C I have to disagree as Pacquiao, five years ago, was just a much different fighter as this whole religious kick has made him much different, too. And of course we saw things in the ring as I knew something was wrong when the normally aggressive free throwing Pacquiao was standing in the middle of the ring trying to outbox an awesome boxer with a six inch reach advantage. Dumbest thing I have seen in years. I've re-watched the fight several times, too, and there were a few times where Floyd was right there and Manny didn't throw anything. It was all very odd. Also, as to the corner, I didn't hear Roach say hardly anything...Not about the shoulder and certainly nothing in terms of giving Manny a good game plan to go out there and try and implement. Which is why I am so pissed off with Pacquiao and Roach et al. Since it is totally as if they just went out there, had decided to never really go for it, and decided to also not talk about it in the corner. And that's what we see, because there was never any real discussion related to instructions you would give that would be needed to beat Floyd. It was let's go get the money and go home! Alex Ariza talks about it and obviously the shoulder injury was real and serious as we have e-rays and operation. Pacquiao et al. screwed everyone over by fighting and should have waited. Floyd still would have probably won, but Pacquiao could certainly have done better than that.
