I was a Teacher on the Navajo Reservation when I retired at 66. I then took a Park Ranger job with the US Fish and Wildlife Service for one year, then we moved back to Texas. I retired from everything while my wife continued to work. Three years ago, she asked if I was ready to move back to the Philippines. I said yes, and we have been here for 3 years now. If I get bored, I just go out into the yard and see what fruits are growing, what plants are blooming, or what insects are running around. I'm happy!

Hi Paul, as a 78 year old man your video hit home. Fortunately, I'm healthy and have plenty of money and no stress. My wife and I retired to Arizona and enjoy life especially those do nothing days you so eloquently described. We love to travel and hope to get to the Philippians one day and buy you and Baby Mae lunch. Continue living the good life.

You think folks are bored if they watch your channel ? I think we just enjoy your personality and down to earth topics that shoot from the hip. Paul in reality its like sitting on the front porch with a good friend sharing coffee & just talking. and then there's the pure alpha's that come in and give us a few laughs. Keep on Keeping on amigo.

Many people work all their lives to accumulate things that will eventually either be thrown away, or sold at a garage sale. Did any of those posessions add to your value of life? Sure, you may have that feeling of satisfaction, though it is short-lived, but ultimately you will search for that next thing to give you a sense of accomplishment. We have always been led to believe that when you work hard all your life you will be able to enjoy life when you retire. For many people that will not be a reality. I have lived in the Philippines for 3 years now and am totally comfortable with not spending my life either traveling back and forth to work, or preparing for work.

But your video really inspired me to say the hell with more work!! and for what a few more thousand dollars... with my small pension and SSDI it will be about 3 grand a month... sooo will see ya soon old dog, my girl lives in Bacolod a few hours from you. willie stuck in Seattle

Hey Paul, I am so happy for the growth of your channel. Your livestreams, which are great fun and a way to interact with you, as well as your meetings over coffee with your friends and, of course, your road trips filmed in real time have gone on to make the channel a more interesting to watch. Paul I want to thank you for this video. I also researched and pondered over this decision and decided there’s no promises and future is unknown I ended up with same decision and you confirmed my decision which makes me feel better I admit there are times I still wonder if I did right thing but Dec 2019 was diagnosed with cancer which ruined my plans of moving to Philippines but had 2 major surgeries because the first one didn’t work and all of 2020 and 2021 recovering I could have died but it confirmed life is short and not promised so good decision seems I’m fortunate and beat cancer so far! Thanks again Paul

Same here Paul. I retired at 59 because I can. I have one rule I abide by and that is I will not do anything that I don't feel like doing. Like you, I enjoy the option of doing absolutely nothing. I wake up in the morning, push the brew button on my coffee machine, sit down in my recliner and watch the news and KZbin on my laptop. I go through 2 cups of coffee while doing this. I might decide to take a morning walk as a form of exercise or just contemplate on what I will have for lunch. Nothing exciting really but it's all on my terms is the bottom line I guess. So yes, there are some of us who enjoys doing absolutely nothing. Loving it.

I too am 67. When I was 12 I wanted to be 16, why, so I could get my driver's license. When I was 16 I wanted to be18, why, so I could legally buy my own smokes. I guess I was always in a hurry to get older but not so much now. I too was a Navy vet, in fact, retired with 20 years service back in 1995. This particular vlog really resonated with. I took my SS money at 64. Yes life is short so I take steps to optimize my health with exercise and a good diet. By the way, I still get the "fever" when I remember the 14 times I visited Olongapo. I met many beautiful people on those occasions.
