I listen to Frank Zappa religiously. I love his musical creations for their superior musicianship, unequalled inventiveness and sublime absurdity. He has immeasurably expanded and elevated the entire craft of Rock music, and his contribution to world culture is on a par of the greatest, most renowned classical composers, and it's a rare privilege to enjoy artistry of the quality which Zappa consistently produced throughout his considerably lengthy but prematurely terminated career. But I also love so much of Paul McCartney's music which has touched and moved me in ways that Zappa's amazingly well crafted and zany music simply couldn't. I even love this sappy silly song with it's syrupy sweet lyrics. Just 'cause you have a cold mechanical computerized water pump for a heart doesn't make me and all the millions of other lovers of this music embarrassing juvenile wussies. It makes us human; living, breathing, feeling, loving, yearning, weeping, whimpering, and even contentedly smiling adult human beings! So there, you big boo boo poopy head.

nothing compares to what he wrote during the Beatles years. they are on a whole different level. He and Lennon could pull in words and melodies better together than they could apart. Lennon's post Beatles work is surprisingly weak. Harrison's All Things is the best post-beatles record.
@KebabMusicLtd Жыл бұрын
@@jv-ep2tc "Lennon's post Beatles work is surprisingly weak." That's all a matter of opinion. Lennon's entire solo output consists of just five albums and one of those is a cover's album. Of course he did a few albums with Yoko which includes those albums with avent-garde leanings but effectively Lennon spent his first five years after leaving the Beatles making records when the mood took him. He then spent five years making bread, and then he made a couple more albums before he was shot dead. Collectively, he created more in those five years than most musicians create within a lifetime. (Never mind the magic he created as a Beatle).

That's exactly how this song makes me feel. Somehow, tears of joy are more painful than tears of sadness. It just reminds you of all the years happiness has been missing, and you will never have to face those days no more. The sun feels new again, life is new, for you are simply reborn. And all that you thought life was...painful, miserable, and lonely..was not. It is simple, lovely, and easy. It's beautiful. *Did you know that the song "Silly Love Songs" by Paul McCartney is actually a response to John Lennon's comment about Paul post-Beatles break up when Lennon claimed that the only songs that Paul had written for the Beatles were just "silly love songs" Paul once commented "The fact is, deep down, people are very sentimental. If they watch a sentimental movie at home, they cry, but in public they won't. We don't like to show our emotions, we tend to sneer at that & in the same way, people may not admit to liking love songs, but that's what they seem to crave."

Yep, Paul wrote a lot of silly love songs. Like Helter Skelter, I Saw Her Standing There, Back In The USSR... the list is endless :)

Wonder what John thought about "Hey Jude". Paul wrote it for Julian Lennon after his father left his mother for Yoko. Remember to let her into your heart and then you begin to make things better. They were best of friends, I"m sure John was joking. He also said The Beatles were, "more popular than Jesus".

Not for John. But for music critics who said Paul only wrote 'lightweight love songs'. This shut them up for a while though... Well, not all ;)

I can't watch this without weeping. I remember when Paul & Linda met & fell in love. It was such a fairy tale for both of them, maybe more so for Paul, as he was miraculously able to find someone who loved him for who he is, not for his fame or money or any other reason. Just real admiration, respect & good old fashioned chemistry. I really miss you Linda. I hope you are somewhere waiting to see him again someday. Rest in peace. 💜💜

Paul just needed to have a woman in his life. She fit the part far better then Asher. That's why, he mourned for a year and married a gold digger. Too bad she didn't get him for more. How about Paul's iligitimates, pre Beatles???? They. Exist you know. Just had to have a girlfriend and usually they were homely

No. The world was lost in wars in Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Central America, and much of Africa. Most of that was due to the United States and Russia inflicting their mutual and violent hatred on everyone in between. And here in the West, divorce was at an all-time high as women realized that many of their husbands were abusive and narcissistic. Today's children are smarter and more in tune with people around the world, and therefore less tolerant of war. And they are much smarter than the fools who voted for the wars and deficit spending of Nixon and Reagan. Stop projecting your own issues onto younger, healthier generations. (By the way, I'm Gen X.)
