To Paul.. Just a few tips/PERSONAL OPINIONS... To press the caliper piston in easily, before removing the caliper use a flathead screwdriver and pry between the outer brake pad and the caliper. Clean the new rotor and hardware with brake cleaner. The rotor has an oily film from the manufacturer to prevent rusting. It's ideal to buy brake pads that come with new hardware. A few extra bucks goes a long way. clean and lube the caliper slide pin and hardware to prevent uneven wear and possible screeching.... (never lube the pads or rotors, people!) Once done, pump the brake pedal before driving to engage the brake calipers/pads onto the rotor. Oh and when loosening the lug nuts, stand up. Use your legs, not your back. You're risking injuring your elbow when you've made so much progress. The reason that the lugnut was deformed may be due to the fact that tire shops typically use air-impact tools to install the lug nuts and over-impact and warp them.. And John.. Bro! Metal to metal?! Wow!!

We had that same problem with our van when we had to get the tires rotated and the brakes checked. Even with the electrical socket wrench they had a hard time getting the lug nuts off.

Should have torqued the wheel nuts on. But Paul is a great Dad.
@jeffinutah1

I recommend using a torque wrench when putting the lug nuts back on so you are sure they are torqued to the proper value. Also, tighten them using the star pattern, not just going around in a circle. Nice video though. You made it look easy.

Do you change the rooter everytime you change the brake pads??
@mazorelli
@mazorelli 5 ай бұрын
If you don't change your brakes consistently, it will affect your rotor. Which is more expensive to replace then a simple brake job.

Don’t you have to bleed the brake lines, I haven’t done brakes in a long time but we did something with the brake lines as we did brakes. How… most brakes have a safety on them, to let you know your brakes are close to gone.. he had to drive a lot more any little noise you check out.

Hope you sprayed brake clean on those rotors before you put them on. Where's the caliper grease? Where's your torque wrench?? STAR PATTERN, PAUL! Don't forget to bed in the pads!! I hope you did these things off camera, but then again, it's a Jeep. Wouldn't be right if things didn't go wrong. ... Shouldn't John be out there with you? Teach a man to fish, am I right?
