The appearance of chaos in Classical deterministic systems is much more interesting and surprising than the probablities needed in Quantum Mechanics. The behavior of non-linear Classical systems restored the "WOW!" in Physics for me. The computation of probability distributions in Quantum Mechanics is less bothersome, in spite of not knowing the exact trajectory, etc. of an electron. The Schrödinger Equation is an example of a Sturm-Liouville Equation, all of the related mathematical firepower can be applied to find solutions, with a lot blood, sweat, tears & computer time.

Electrons don't have trajectories. They are not objects. There. Solved it for you. This is high school physics, by the way. ;-)

I'd say we would be missing something on the level of Michelson & Morely experiment as a waymarker. Something that says "this here is the next rabbit hole to jump down into." We might not agree or like the current state, the bricks and foundations for the next step simply have not yet been identified.

There may be more under the hood, but perhaps some uncertainties are necessary for the universe to function. Chaos and order are often paired together.

A fascinating video, as always. Doesn’t the fact that (as I understand it) quantum mechanics doesn’t mesh with general relativity also indicate that one or both theories needs tweaking?

I agree with Einstein. Randomness is a completely irrational concept. There must always be something to determine an outcome. There is a lot happening that we can't see.

Consider this, Einstein took the normal path that physics is deterministic or indeterministic, never multi-determinism. QM has multiple eigenstates BUT never an unreasonable state. Like the dice, one entity that has 6 values and only that. Another example can be the Joker wild card, one entity that has multiple values; only the permitted values are given by the rules. This multi-determinism provides nature a powerful tool like electrons that can have multiples orbits wrapping the nucleus and neutralizing the outside electric field. Now, the question of the century is: On this multi-determinism, does the solution exist altogether or randomly alternated one by one? The first alternative is the superposition idea that gives the actual interpretation with good and weird thoughts. The second one explains why only one solution is seen in a measurement (collapse), how particles pass through a potential wall (tunnel effect), and how entangled particles update their states? etc. This alternative deserves some time, especially if you are looking for another QM interpretation. This new approach needs to solve how do particles jump from one eigenstate to another? The answer is by considering 3D space in oscillation. I recommend the book "Can Relativity and quantum mechanics go together?", there is a reasonable way to understand QM, hope you like it and get inspired.... Regards

I 100% agree that it's incomplete. Physics as well. Our understanding of Gravity. The importance of electromagnetism. How they tie 🪢 into each other. On a grand scale ⚖️☯️⚛️

Yes, what is the underlying physics? _Something_ must be pushing subatomic particles (energy wave packets) to go where they go. Random chance doesn't push anything. What is the underlying driver? It's hard to be satisfied with a theory that merely describes what we see instead of explaining it.

QM is like cavemen and fire. They know how to use it, they know how hot it is, how light it is. They know fire need fuel. They know everything about fire. They know everything except one little, tiny almost irrelevant detail - how to start it. So, they need 'God' in form of lightning but that's it, they know everything else, they'll take it from here.

Neat video- on an unrelated note, I was in Ulm five years ago- wish I had known that was Einstein's birthplace, perhaps there was something related to his life to see there. I know they invited him to return after WW2 but he declined for obvious reasons.

If anything, Einstein disliked the non-locality, the ''spooky (inter)action at a distance'' aspect of quantum mechanics, even more than its probability or, the ''God does not play dice'' aspect! It would have been even more interesting if you had brought it up!

Isn't this essential to the notion of quantum: that there is a Planck length, a Planck time, etc. and whatever you may think you would find behind, below or beyond the uncertainties of quantum mechanics, must be based behind, below or beyond the Planck limits? I've met people who mumble quietly: There must be a more finely grained reality past Planck. We cannot be meant to stop there. The erratic movements of the subatomic particles are just manifestations of roundoff errors, sometimes accumulated into the extreme. (Not my view, though.)

General relativity and the laws of motion are incomplete. They are unable to explain the motion of more than 95% of all the visible matter in the universe. General relativity is unable to explain the orbit and trajectory of electrons. Einstein should've been happy quantum mechanics introduced potentials and uncertainty. To top it all off, general relativity is unable to merge with quantum mechanics and Maxwell's equations on electromagnetic fields, particularly the speed of light when an observer or measuring device is contained inside the EM field being measured. That is why he called quantum entanglement spooky action at a distance. It was because it contradicted his ideals about distance and time being interwoven into spacetime.

If by “95% of the visible matter in the universe” you’re talking about dark matter and dark energy, then a) it’s not visible matter (or even matter, in the case of dark energy), and b) no, GR does explain their movement and effects - in fact, GR is part of how we know about them in the first place - it just doesn’t explain what they’re made of, or why they’re there. Thing is, it also doesn’t explain what regular matter is made of (aside from “energy”), and it doesn’t explain why regular matter is there, either. It’s just a theory about how they interact with each other, and it explains that part fine.

@@wisquatuk I said 95%, that's the consensus but not the actual percentage that the laws of motion and GR is unable to explain. Out of all the mass in our solar system the sun makes up 99.86%. GR and the laws of motion are only able to explain the motion of planets, moons and other small bodies in our solar system. They cannot explain the motion of our sun as it moves through the galaxy. Did you know our sun is orbiting the supermassive black hole Sgr A* in the core of our galaxy 26,000 light years away, traveling at 536,000 mi/h while at the same time is moving away from the black hole at 900,000 mi/h? According to the laws of motion and GR everything in the galaxy should be slowly moving towards the black hole yet the opposite is observed. GR and the laws of motion are supposed to be able to explain the motion of mass yet out of all the mass in our solar system alone they can only explain 0.14% of the motion. Thus the 95% estimate physicists believe makes up dark matter and dark energy is much more. Meaning GR and the laws of motion are almost 100% wrong, 99.86% to be exact. I determined back in 2004 why. Dark matter and dark energy do not really exist. The laws of motion and GR are 99.86% incorrect. If the universe contained dark matter and the bodies in the Milky Way were being affected by it causing stars in galaxies to accelerate beyond what the amount of mass in it is able to explain then the same acceleration and affect would happen to the planets, moons and other small bodies in our solar system. Remember, all bodies fall at the same exact rate regardless of the weight or density of the mass as shown by experiments. Yet the planets and other small bodies in our solar system are not affected by dark matter or dark energy. This indicates there is no magical dark matter. This indicates their equations are wrong. Not only does GR and the laws of motion fail to explain the motion of atoms and electrons at the quantum scale but they fail to explain the motion of large bodies like stars and galaxies. This indicates the equations that make up GR are wrong, not that dark matter and dark energy are real tangible things. They are imaginary things made up because the equations are wrong. Simply fix the equations to match the observations then dark matter and dark energy disappear. Yet there is not one physicist or astrophysicists who understands this? Now why is that? Are they not experts? Do they truly understand the physics and kinematics involved or are they simply following the claims of all the other so called experts like they are children playing follow the leader? Well, not I. I fixed the equations to reflect the motion occurring to all the mass in the universe. It wasn't that difficult. I believe they purposely made up the dark forces to milk the masses of tax dollars searching for things that don't truly exist. There is a solution to both dark matter and dark energy. I discovered it many years ago. GR and the laws of motion are only able to explain the motion and orbits of small bodies like planets and moons in our solar system which make up only 0.14% of the mass. The general theory of relativity and laws of motion are simply wrong at the small scale and wrong at the large scale of stars and galaxies, the galactic scale. The reason why dark matter and dark energy cannot be measured, don't reflect or radiate EM fields is because they don't exist. To top it all off light information doesn't take time to travel any distance. So we are unable to see backwards in time because of the speed of light per Einstein's predictions. That's why supermassive galaxies have been measured further than 13 billion light years away. Also, time dilation doesn't happen to the S type stars orbiting extremely close to the black hole in the core of our galaxy per predictions. General relativity is a flop. All the stars and other bodies in the Milky Way galaxy rapidly are receding away from the black hole. The predictions made by GR are slowly falling apart. Cognitive dissonance is what has kept his theory alive. So many people want to believe Einstein was a genius when he wasn't. His wife was good at math. Yet today we see, their math doesn't fit all observations. Every time their equations don't match observations the motion is pinned on dark matter, dark energy and soon, other imaginary things like wormholes and white holes after astrophysicists discover massive amounts of matter and energy coming from the surface of every supermassive black hole. I don't expect anyone to believe me as of yet. But eventually after discovering their ideals to be wrong they'll have to accept the fact that Einstein was no genius. Supermassive black hole don't suck, they blow. Nothing is able to fall into them or collide with them. They constantly radiate massive amounts of energy and elementary particles. The particles come to a rest relative to the motion of the black hole and condense into stars. Stars are born near black holes and then slowly migrate away so the youngest bodies are close to the black hole and the oldest bodies furthest away. I know, this is conjecture but it's true. Large spherically shaped bodies in the universe create energy, gravity and elementary particles all around them. The large spherically shaped bodies in the universe are the creators of all the energy and matter the universe contains. There was not a single big bang. Because all large bodies create is why galaxies move away from all the other galaxies. Einstein and Newton were wrong.

Nice graying of your chin hair. I think Einstein was just trying to placate those Christian based scientist by saying that, but; he personally did not believe in god.
