I can't seem to get seeds to germinate, but I've bought five little plants, of different varieties. We've got over an acre, so lots of room. Can't wait to plant them out...

They look almost like the castor bean tree. We grow them from seed in the Summer. They grow like mad and add that same tropical feel as well!

What kind of miscanthus is that in the front? They look beautiful together.

Do you find it puts out root suckers? I have read that even if you don't let them go to seed by pollarding, they put up suckers sometimes fairly far from the plant from the roots.

Mine haven't but that's not to say they might not in time....definitely in something like Tetrapanax 👍

Hi Tom, I’ve planted this for foliage but mainly to block a neighbours house peering into the garden. Just a tad bit worried about the annual growth. I’ll be hard pruning each year. I know you said it grows 10 ft and maybe more in following years .... how much more lol? 😅 many thanks I’m SE England. Also, by hard pruning each year will this restrict the roots. Would be ever so grateful for a response

Hi, sorry, a year late replying......as it ages and based on where you live it'll easily attain 14-16ft as it matures. It won't restrict the roots by doing this technique. Hope that helps
