Using this technique I was amazed how well I was able to true this wobbly bicycle rim. Just happened to have the tire off and the inner rubber liner as well. The back side of the tightening screws for the spokes on this wheel were slotted for a regular screw driver. Using the screwdriver instead of a wrench or pair of pliers made the task even easier. This wheel is spinning like a roulette wheel now. Thank You for your informative video.

@whatisgoingonherebruh19 ай бұрын
@luigiprovencher8888 bike shops often work with minimum prices. If I want anything done at a local place they will bill parts + minimum an hour labour, even if it's 5 minutes. 1 hour and 10 minutes is billed 2 hours etc. And theyre always full of bikes waiting to be repaired. So maybe it's the same for this guy, but I agree, fixing should be much cheaper than replacing new to not promote waste economies

And yet he fails to mention one of the most important aspects of wheel truing, and that's spoke tension. If the spokes you have to tighten to true a wheel, are already tight, you can snap a spoke or create imbalance of tension. Sure, he showed how to true a wheel in 2 minutes, though the actual info was only about 20 seconds worth, the rest was pointless rambings, but doing this without taking current spoke tensions, can cause more harm than good. Try Parktool turorial vids, these blokes know what they 're doing and their vidoes are well set out, with good lighting and camerangles and added visuals to help explain.

I've read elsewhere that it's a good idea to balance the adjustment through slackening and tightening over a small section of the rim, would seem to make sense if the wheel isn't out of round although it's hard to tell if this is the case with the tyre fitted.

@ceramicsaustralia51884 жыл бұрын
No but you have to make sure that you've brushed your teeth.
@PaulChapman1bz3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you do. Air pressure in the tyre will stop the rim finding its true form after spoke adjustment. Also need to squeeze spokes on the adjusted rim area to relieve any residual tension, otherwise the first time you ride after adjustment the wheel is likely to end up with the same problem within a few miles.

I recently noticed that my rear tire is slightly crooked and veers to the left. I can slip my hand through the gap between the tire and the chainstay on the right side, but the gap on the left is too narrow for me to get my hand through it. However the problem isn't bad enough that the tire makes contact with the chainstay when turning. It can still rotate 360°. It’s good to know there’s a cheap and easy DIY fix.
