This philosophy is against physiology - it is proven humans are having issues remembering things happening quickly like short scenes less than 5-10 seconds. That’s why you get out from cinema after you watched a marvel movie and cannot remember anything. Plus there is no chance to build up viable character.

I have watched several reviews of the Q3, and all of them dove straight into the camera's technical features, which is useful to be sure. You, however, spoke on a personal level about your connection to the camera and to photography. I truly enjoyed hearing a review from that perspective. I managed to purchase the Q3, and even though I've used it very little thus far, I can already tell I am going to really enjoy this camera. I can already tell I will dive into this camera just to see where it will take me, just for the joy of it. Thank you for your perspective on this wonderful camera!

These cameras are a huge game changer and they will help you become a better photographer. I have just received my Q3 and have owned a Q2 monochrom for some years now. These cameras are without a doubt my all-time favorites, an absolute joy to use, with image quality that blows you away, and a superb build quality that no other brand offers. My Canon R5 and it's pro range lenses, Fuji Xpro 3 and it's pro lenses or the pro-Nikons I have owned in the past do not remotely compare to the joy of the user experience of these cameras or the image quality they produce. If you write these cameras off because you think they are just 'rich kids toys', or are 'unnecessary'....you're doing yourself no favors and are missing out on something truly amazing.

I do have the original Q and use it extensively. It is simply a brilliant, versatile and very useful camera and goes with me everywhere. I do sort of cheat a bit at times, though - depending on what I am shooting, I might, in addition, take a Leica M10 or M3 with a 50 mm Summilux or a Nikon D810 with longer lenses. One way or another the Q is always with me.

I personally shoot portraits on a 35mm at the moment and I'm planning to buy a Leica Q1 soon. Recently I had a shoot where I was forced to switch to my 85mm because the distance was too far for my 35mm. I agree 100% with what you said, I didn't hear the model and she didn't hear me, we still enjoyed the shoot but it took a lot of coordination because after being in position there was no way of talking anymore. I don't understand how people can have 100mm upwards as their main portrait lens, the look is great too in my opinion but there is just not really any connection to the models. I might also mention that I started to shift more towards full body portraits, I wouldn't use an 35mm for a really close-up Portrait, even tho it can be done with a good lens.

Sir thank you very much, Great video. Hello, I have a serious problem with the Leica Q3 I just bought. The camera's settings constantly change without my consent. For example, the setting I made to shoot only DNG changes to DNG&JPG. Then I set the ISO to 100 and it automatically switches to Auto ISO without my consent. This problem also occurs also in some other settings. I tried to solve the problem with my own means, but I couldn't. Maybe am I doing something wrong while adjusting the settings? Do I need to lock the settings I made? If so, how and how is locking done? I would appreciate it if you could guide me on how to solve my problem. With thanks,

I use fill flash on 90% of my photos so having no built in flash is going to be a challenge for me. Do you have any videos on getting the best out of the Q3 for portraits “sounds daft asking that question tbh”, but I just think your images just POP. Great video and now iv found it. Great channel 👍

I will be swapping my Q2 for a Q3 as soon as possible because of the sensor. Not for all those lovely 60mp but because it’s a triple resolution, pixel binning BSI sensor. Being able to resolve at 18mp but still using the full back lit sensor will make it an incredible camera for low light shooting

@@paulreidphotography Ouch. Do you know what happens with the Lithium if it comes in contact with a slightly little bit amount of water like condensing sweat if you are carrying them in the pockets of your pants? That ends with ugly burnings. The only thing you can do is getting rid of your pants as quick as possible, you can't stop that fire. I'm waiting for the day someone sues one of those companies delivering batteries without protecting case. Unfortunately - as always - someone has to get hurt first. Just because the companies (not only Leica) greedily don't add a protective case - costs: 1 cent - to the product. OM e.g. does, Fuji, Nikon and Canon also. Leica and Sony don't the other brands I don't know. I can't imagine the engineers at that companies don't know the dangers of Lithium. It's a management decision. Very seldom do I miss not having a tilting screen on my Q2. I have come to the conclusion that it it is due to the focal length giving such a wide field of view that in many cases you just have to point in a general direction and trust the autofocus or manually zone focus to just point and shoot.

Wonderful video, Paul! (The reader comments below are also well written and helpful.) I've been thinking over the last day about what the Q2 gives me in my portraits and could not find anything (so far) in the Q3 that would make me switch. Sure, the flip screen might be a nice thing to have at times (definitely for a street photographer)... but my subjects KNOW they are being photographed so there is no need to 'sneak' a shot. lol 47mp also sits at the absolute sweet spot for resolution as well.... 60mp (I get that with a Canon 5DSR) simply adds more time retouching skin blemishes and pores in the type of work I do. The focusing on the Q2 is perfectly fine and the recent eye tracking software upgrade solves any lingering frustrations! Cheers, mate!

If you favour portraits then 43! It will make them easier. If it’s street the 28 is easier

You are getting some nice shallow depth of field with those portraits considering the focal length. I`m currently sl2s ,246 and a CL with lenses. Thinking of hacking the CL compact set in for a Q .Thanks for the review .

Yeah at 1.7 you can get some really great shallow depth of field for separation

Q to Q2 to Q3 I’ve had a wonderful relationship with Q. The Q3 is supreme. For the first time ever I now have 1 camera and NO lenses. And it’s great, just pick up my camera and go out. Use my feet to compose. Use crop to get as good a long shot as I used to get with 90mm. Cost? Well, if I take 1000 shots it cost me 8 bucks a shot. Take 10000 and it cost me less than a buck a shot.

Q2M owner here too. I think the upgrades are awesome, yet the design is not that minimalistic anymore. The floppy screen implementation is rough and the bigger d-pad, sure ergo wise fine, too big. STILL!! I will sell my Q2M for the Q3 :)

Ha haa! You’re right. It’s so hard to stay minimal and have all those extra features.

Agreed 100% with your take on 28mm vs 50mm. I love my Q2 and i use it everywhere bc of its versatility. I don’t know if it would be used as a daily camera if it was 50mm

It’s tricky as I find myself with my back against the wall so many times even with a 28mm. I couldn’t just have a 50mm although I do love that focal length

Paul, you have 28/35/50 and 90mm frames in there I guess, but does the camera zoom in the crop or are you just left with the frame's lines on a 28mm field of view ?

Just frame lines. A bit like the old rangefinders. Great for 35mm! 50mm onwards is a bit much in my opinion without magnification of any sorts

I have the Q2M. If someone offered me a Q3 if I traded my Q2M in and handed over an extra £200, I'd do it. The flip-out screen and extra resolution are worth that much. But if I was starting from scratch I think I'd be looking for a secondhand Q or Q2/Q2M than Q3.

If did not already own your Q2 M but you had an M11 would you add a Q2 M used, a Q3 new or, if there is going to be one wait for a Q3 M? I have the M11 with 35mm. Very interested in the Q2 M and seeing pretty good used prices on Q2, even the Monochrome. I like your videos and perspective. I am also curious about the notion of a Q3 M. Do we know one will come out or is it just a safe bet?
