Celebrating Life with Paul Shinn, YouTube's Ford Model A guy- Near death health scare.

Born with a bad heart, liver, and lungs, I deal with it just fine most of the time. However, I managed to come down with pneumonia (from the 'rona) and came very close to kicking the bucket this time. While in the hospital, all I could think about was getting behind the wheel of a Model A and taking a nice drive in the country. Thanks to my birthday conveniently falling on a day when I was feeling pretty good, I pulled a few of Tina's heart-strings until she let me do it. This video is Tina and I sharing that blissful moment with you, and sharing how thankful I am for you and all of your support. I can really feel the prayers and uplifting!

I just started watching you today Paul, via VGG. When you said you had heart failure it immediately struck a cord with me. October the year before last I was struggling to just do daily tasks. I woke around 2 am one morning and had angina, then began to struggle to breathe. When I saw you struggling for breath on that hospital bed it really hit home. Heart failure is the most terrible and painfully frightening experience one could ever have. Forcing yourself to breathe, as you know that if you stop, it's over! I fully understand you getting out in the shed as soon as you could, getting over HF is both physical and a mental process! It devastates you both ways. Sorry to go on, but you survived, so did I, and being alive is the greatest thing in the world mate!

Paul, hang in there bud, man I can really relate to this, I had pneumonia in both lungs for over 2 months back in the Spring and I seriously didn't think I was gonna make it through. Going through something like this really makes you glad for the simple things, like just being able to breath and function. Getting back into your shop, being able to drive, man THAT is a BIG deal right there. So glad you two were able to get out and have that pizza date ! Keep chuggin' along and improving ! You guys are GREAT !!! By the way, it was while I was down with pneumonia and stuck just lying around that I discovered your videos on KZbin. Watching your videos and seeing all the A's in their natural habitat, and all your adventures was a REAL uplift to me while I was sick. You guys bring joy to a LOT of people, so God bless !!!

Paul, I've been watching your channel f'or a few months now and just came across this video. I'm so happy to see that you survived this episode. I too contracted pneumonia which turned into strep. My lung surgery was followed by sepsis. Surviving these things gives one a deeper appreciation of the gift of life. Thanks for the gift of your knowledge and sharing what you know on this channel. I'm into cars big time but never Model A's. After WW2 my father drove out to Oregon from North Dakota with his brother in a Model A. Unfortunately, I do not have any photos, nor do I have the opportunity to ask him more details of that trip. Your channel has inspired me to look for a Model A and your recently sold 2door sedan is what I have my eye on. Thoughts and prayers and thanks for sharing your story. Every time I hear of the youtube haters and the negative comments it makes me feel ashamed for people that feel free to comment about what they know nothing about. Glad it doesn't bother you.

A year ago, after watching several of your videos, I started thinking about pulling the 1930 A Tudor out our barn. My Dad and I got it roadworthy in 1966. After college and marriage , the car was parked in 1974. Seeing how happy you seemed to drive the A’s, I decided to go for a complete resto. Being parked for 47 years, the car started and drove but needed everything…(what seemed drivable to a 17 year old, is different for a 73 year old). The car came back from the resto shop in northern NewHampshire last week. I gotta admit that I was more smiley than you on our 1st drive in 47 years.. Thx for your inspiration.

This video was wonderful! I have acquired my Dad's 1930 deluxe coupe. He passed away at age 91 about a year ago and grew up with Model T's and Model A's in the 1940's. His car is cosmetically restored but not mechanically sorted out. He purchased it late in life and was only able to enjoy it for a few years before becoming unable to drive it. It has collected dust in my garage for the past year but hopefully I can adopt it as a hobby in the future and enjoy it as he had intended to do. Your videos are certainly inspiring and it is wonderful to see you AND your wife enjoying your Model A's! She is a real treasure for sure! After watching several of your videos, I came across this one. Wow! It is a blessing that, like that Model A you are built Ford tough!
