Been on the Calley sleeper four times now booked the En suite room, I am a poor sleeper most of the time but on the sleeper I had a great sleep on all occasions I think the rocking motion does something to my brain, never used the club car though brought my own food a which I ate in my cabin, they don't like you doing that but was not going to pay the inflated prices. Great experience though. I grew up in the Highlands but sadly live further south now I visit family occasionally and had been using the bus to travel up and down which is long and boring and uncomfortable but at Christmas I use the Sleeper train to visit its my treat to myself its worth it. Booked my journey up on 19th December cant wait.

Thanks, Paul. I agree with you: I LOVE sleeper trains! No craziness of airport arrival, departure and security. I've taken them throughout the US, UK, Europe, and India. Often excellent food, and there is nothing like being fully rested for a day of sight seeing or work the next day. Plus, so much better for the environment.

I love this train journey, very fortunate to live close to both Dumbarton Central and Helensburgh Upper - two stops on the line. The land management issues are largely down to the MoD and the Forestry Commission (which does seem to slowly be changing some of its practices, thankfully), I don't think the farms are anywhere near as much to blame. Next time you're in Fort William go up the Nevis Range Gondola, it's well worth a visit. I think it was this company we bought a "title" from for a friend for a present. Good to see they're actually doing some good with the money they make. The cafe in the Fort William station is really nice but I think it's only open morning and early afternoon.

I went on a long trip all over the UK late last year with my partner. I've been a few times before, but never to Scotland. After a sleepless 30 hour door-to-door journey to Inverness, a painfully short rest followed by a nervy two hour early morning drive in unfamiliar conditions to Glenfinnan to watch the Jacobite pass over the viaduct, we were in literal tears at how achingly beautiful the scene was. It stayed just as gorgeous (albeit minus the train) the entire rest of the time we spent around there. I've travelled a fair amount and been to some very pretty and interesting places, but the Scottish Highlands shot straight to the top of my list. You've got an amazing home. Scotland, and the Highlands in particular, is awe-inspiringly beautiful and I'm so glad you appreciate it!

Hello Paul, glad to see the shower was working properly in your rather smallish room. Things looked modern but tight. I can only say that once again compared to Amtrak (with its very dated equipment) I found your accommodations lacking (especially for what you paid). Why does "modern" always equal skimpy? Every "modern" sleeper train you've been on lately has the same vibe, modern but skimpy airline like seating and barely acceptable accommodations. Frankly, I think we Americans are lucky to have our out-dated, more generous accommodations here. I just hope that the new equipment to come here won't fit the "modern but skimpy" trend that seems to be so prevalent today. The scenery was beautiful and I'm thrilled to be able to ride with you. It makes for a very enjoyable experience.

The train looks absolutely lovely; but looking at the accommodation options online, I feel that they should consider adding a couchette car. It'd offer a nice mid-point between the seats and the 2-person cabins, and be better for families and other groups. Hopefully they're looking at what ÖBB is doing and taking notes!

I took the Caledonian Sleeper from Inverness to Euston last August. It was okay but two people in one compartment have a hard time moving about. We had the compartment on the end of the carriage and it was quite noisy and bumpy because I think it was over the wheels. On the whole, it was enjoyable but I am not sure I would do it again.
