@fastdreams

@@luongk88 Exactly. I'm barely an occasional hobby trail rider, but I like nice equipment. However when a good mtb costs as much or more than a proper MX dirtbike, I have to laugh. One thing I keep asking myself is, what equipment did the riders of 10-20 years ago have? What kind of riding were they able to do on that crappy old tech? For someone like me, that isn't chasing time or position, I have to avoid the hype. True entry level today (like the 1300 bike I just bought) is probably worlds better than the higher end stuff from 10 years ago, which was then good enough for some crazy pro level riding. I get it, if it is your passion and you ride constantly and maybe even race...then yeah you need the equipment to be competitive.

Paul, I'm such a huge fan of this whole series of videos with "not so expert" riders you've been doing... I think youtube gives all of us a false sense of what a MTBer should be like and maybe some of us feel obligated to be all "pro" all the time, and it's so cool to have a reminder that not everyone knows all the things and does everything right. It makes me feel okay about not being a super pro guy, and I hope I'm not the only one.

Now she knows what working suspension and a looked after bike should feel like she will probably look after it.. and I dare say Paul will give her some help. He should also hook her up with some proper bike shoes.

Doing this kinda stuff for mtb friends? Feels awesome. I've done it for 2 so far... seeing their amazement and smiles when they ride their updated bikes? So cool.

Seriously, this is a great thing you’ve done here. @Shimano and @PaulThePunter deserve a giant thumbs up for supporting a local rider - a nurse, no less👌👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I’d like to see more of this on YT Channels. The manufacturers support the channels that we love to watch - inevitable and a good thing - and to sweeten any bitterness, a bit of pro-Bono for deserving bikers local to the channel owner seems a good thing to me 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Awesome work Paul. There are so many people that should watch this and do a full upgrade on their bikes instead of buying new (if they can find a bike).

Paul this video was So fullfilling, too many out there would relogate that bike to the evil world of Ebay stating its 'old school' or 'ugh its rubbish lets blow 5k on a new one' when all it required was a good service and key component update👍 bravo ..... even if it was just a bottle holder she noticed #bless

i'd recommend getting mtb shoes: 1) they grip even more 2) good pedals will destroy her soles right now mtb shoes will last much longer i'd get rideconcept livewire, but you know, shimano is good also ;)
