Here I was thinking Arturo Sandoval warming up would be like Mt. Saint Helens warming up. Sure enough it was true. He starts out with something relatively benign, but you just KNOW something bigger is coming. With an amateur like me something bigger may indeed come, but with Sandoval, like Saint Helens, something HUGE is going to flatten everything around him when he gets going! He is amazing and I am so glad he is humble enough to share!

the first time I heard Arturo Sandoval, I was an instant, no-holds-barred fan and admirer. Sound and musical sense just does not get better than his. This video demonstrates just how good his trumpet sound is. Lucky for the world he got out of Cuba.
@chrishamilton49997 жыл бұрын
By the way, does anyone know the make and model of trumpet he uses?
@lino39796 жыл бұрын
yes. it is a inderbinen trumpet. Inderbinen is a trumpetbuilder from switzerland. The model is called NERO, but his one has gold on it, not like the uusual ones. Inderbinen also builds trumpets and flugels for Arturo Sandoval, Eric Truffaz, James Morrison played em too, Randy Brecker, Gileno Santana, Mathieu Michel. Michael Brecker played Inderbinen Sax and Candy Dulfer still plays on Inderbinen. Inderbinen is one of the world best instrumentbuilders

Random Stuff Ended up ditching the idea, it's a very difficult instrument, I prefer to focus on piano for now and eventually pick up another instrument. The lesson I booked was just a "try out" with a trumped they had there at the school. Thanks for asking hahahahaha

Had the privilege of taking classes with Alfredo Perez, who like Sandoval graduated together in Cuba conservatory of music. Alfredo also taught the same ideology about the way to warm up and the respect for each note. This is a little training few people get to see in a lifetime. And he took the time to share it, ..shows how great Arturo is as a person as well.

It's amazing how many guys have what they call their own warm up- but they are basically all the same- start out soft- rest as much as you play. People forget that your chops are MUSCLES and you need to stretch and warm up just like a professional athlete does
