I’ve been playing trombone for 3 years now and this didn’t help because I already knew how to do it but I definitely recommend this to someone who is new to the trombone. 10/10 recommend

I think mouthpieces make more difference than the horn. but the horn makes it easier to play..

Hi Paul ... My theory is that Bach (specialy 16) get into the jazz secnne when Conn was purchased by UMI and the Quality of he horns falled deep down ... So I think that players that once love de conn tone migrated to the Bach fammily , because in the king one that sound what's not abailable ... Cheers from Argentina

I quite like the sound of Mahler 5 being a mariachi trumpet solo, I can imagine the whole first movement being played by a mariachi band tbh lol

Hey Paul, Love everything you have done for the humble trombone. Vibrato is so important. I play Bass and tried slide vibrato for years with varying results, I then slowly started to use and develop lip vibrato which to me sounds so much nicer especially on Bass, I have several home recordings capturing this with some good results. Maybe check one of these out when you get a chance......thanks, Al

The 48H hands down. You didn't push the 48H to the sparkling point which it reaches later than the other two. The 6H sounds a hair "brittle" and too ready to edge out in comparison to the 48H. I play lead Jazz in a big band with a 1956 6H and my 48H. The 48H is just more stable and provides more tonal options than just about anything ever made.

I'm now 71years old. When I was young, I was very good. Then high school came and it was a choice of playing football or being in the marching band. Football won. I had'nt played in 55 years. Recently some people at my church decided to get a small band going. When I tried playing for the first time in a long, long time, everything came back to me very easily except the emboucher. A lot of the time, I would go from playing notes to just blowing air. This was frustrating and embarrassing. This video is by far the best that I have watched. It has very detailed explanations and a few exercises to do. It is really helping tremendously. Thank you so much.

One really important thing that doesn’t get talked about enough when you’re beginning trombone is posture. Posture links to smoother air flow and can increase air capacity which overall makes you sound better. I remember that my sound instantly got better when I realised that I’d been playing on bad posture all along. And, it’s really easy to fix as well!

Those screaming trumpet guys are only playing tight way up there because that's how they reach their absolute peak notes. Bro might be squeezing out a Triple C....but for Double C he can hit it "soft-touch" on the lips. The key is to figure out how to push the limits of your soft touch up the scale step by step. For DBZ fans I compare it to learning how to transform into a super saiyan with absolute minimal effort, that way you can only go higher from there, pushing all the way up to Super Saiyan 2 and beyond once you really press-in. If you try to pinch and press right out of the gate, your limit will only be Ultra Super Saiyan 1.
