Yeah thats also my approach now. In the past I was not focused enough by exercising only at some days.

Yes works well, as long as don't put pressure on yourself by demanding long sessions everyday

Your videos have been extremely helpful to work up towards a freestanding handstand. Not there yet, but still there. Specially the clarity on how to control under/balance is not that obvious and not as clear in other peoples videos.

i follow many of your recommendations. the main one is the 365. i made it my focus in 2024 to diligently work on my handstand. i'm close to a 60 second stw hold (usually 40-55 seconds) and can do crow to hs most days and 20-25 second hs on days where my balance is decent. i'm going to continue this method in 2025. i have other calisthenics interests that divide my attention, so my progress isn't very linear. thanks for all your tutelage, paul.

You are awesome, dude. Handstands are powerful tools for permanent transformation. I like to keep it simple with some daily handstand walks in my house and freestanding holds, but press-ups are next level stuff! Salute from Holland ❤😊

I could do head stand, really want to learn hand stand. This detail makes it easier to understand. Thank you so much for sharing! I will be 70 in March/ female. Don’t worry I promise I will not hurt myself. I do leg press 200lbs. I could carry dumbbells 40lbs each hands.

Outstanding information. I'm at a 10 second handstand but not consistent at all. Continue to fight under & over balance issues. Thanks for this excellent vid

The wall pulls in both directions are a great exercise to start building the ability to manage compensatory movements with wrists, shoulders, pelvis and feet. But you should also work on balance holds from the wall, using whatever shape makes it easiest for you to enter balance. For example, you may be strong on chest/wall toe pulls, but may find it easier to enter balance one foot at a time, with a modest split. Or maybe in half-tuck with one toe on the wall. When you move off the wall and start working on entries, you're adding a completely new step. You will have to manage all the momentum generated by the entry. So having spent time building balance holds on the wall will make the target you're trying to catch much more distinct. Even after you start getting some decent holds in free space, it will probably be super helpful to keep doing some sets on the wall. Or conversely, you can add entries to your wall exercises when you're ready, but practice them as an additional skill, not an alternate form of entry vs. the wall.

What would you suggest for fixing overbalance control as I end up arching my back alot and usually fall forwards nomatter how tight i engage my glutes and push with my fingers. edit - i have been trying hollowback wall pulls, however catching the overbalace is the tricky part

Focus more on mobility and lower intensity (easier) progressions. Things that you can do while still holding a conversation

So you recommend to spend 10-15mn per day on handstands practice? I did train my handstand for several years but didn’t manage to get to a consistent freestanding one. I’m 40 now, and after 1 year without serious training on this move, I’d love to try again.
