If you are struggling follow Paul. His lessons are not something you have to spend hours with. I was ready to give up golf until I found Paul. I was a good golfer and slowly went from a draw to balloon fades over a couple years and just chalked it up to getting old. Was to the point of having to hit six iron from 150. Now I'm back to hitting eight iron from 150 and back to 280 yard drives and I'm 65 years old. If you can't follow his instruction and immediately improve, take up bowling. Thanks Paul!

Yes, it is time for you to make this super simple and get on track. You have been in the 70's so this should be a no brainer to get you back there. Few have ever broken 80 so you have done this before. First make it super simple. Making it complicated is not going to get you anywhere. Here is how simple this is: Neutral grip. Square stance Athletic set up not too bent over. Step 1 fix the spin: - Hit the top and manually roll it over and get every ball hooking. This is 5 mins. maybe 10. Slow learner 15mins. You need to roll this from the top. You are ONLY working on spin. The wrists affect spin. Once you can do this we know what you are going to do before you do it. You also need to memorize the feeling of releasing it so you can do it without thinking about it. Now every ball is pull hooking left. Great. See this a half right. You have the spin. Now you move on to body so you fix the direction. You hit the top. Instead of thinking about rolling it you switch your thought to firing your legs and hips. The easiest way is with your bel[t buckle. If your belt buckle moves before your arms you will hit it dead straight unless you fire the lower body a million mph. I am talking about a decent pace with the hips not crazy fast. Watch me do it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2a1oJ2KrZqmfqs Then follow these steps: Wrists = Spin (Step 1) kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmXZcoajhN-ehsk kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2mZaYSpidF6qpY kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3mop2p9br9oY5I Body = Direction (Step 2) kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIebpoaQZpt1r9U kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJXTmaeeeLZsjK8 kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2mpqYaQiNJ-e9k (secret tip)

Paul Wilson you are a genius - best investment I ever made was for your Body Swing program - 69 yrs old , thought my loss of distance was gone forever until i discovered your effortless power principles of loose wrists , coiling , touching the knees and back of the neck with club shaft on follow through - why you’re not in Golf Digest , Golf Magazine and the Golf Channel is beyond me - probably because you would put all the other so called “gurus” out of business - keep up the good work - what you have done for me and other senior golfers is priceless

Thanks so much. So glad you are doing well. Such a great feeling when you can hit it with power. Make the game so much easier too. Well, I almost did a breaking 100,90,80, 70 in Golf Digest years ago and Tom Watson changed his sponsor at the last minute so they never came out to shoot the pics. I've been on Academy Live twice. Yes, they don't want me fixing people that's or sure. Good way to put themselves out of business.

I came here for two reasons; 1: Paul's video on bunker play absolutely got rid of any fear I had of sand. Highly recommended. And 2: Watching Amy Yang win the KPMG this year with a swing that looks so slow and effortess, that it actually blew my mind. Completely changed the way I look at the golf swing. I took a long hiatus away from golf, and I returned a few years ago, now 65. I am playing in a traveling league and some of the courses I've played really force you to have control over your shots. They are NOT "grip it and rip it" courses, and I have been having a hard time staying out of trouble. I know it's going to take some time, but I have decided that I MUST change my tempo and learn to do the things Paul is talking about here. I'm working on it now, and I have hit some very long drives with what felt like a very easy swing. It most definetely CAN be done, and should be done, especially as you get older. Wonderful video Paul. You're the best. Thank you!

As soon as someone starts talking technical I instantly tune out. I don't want to hear it. I used to think like that too and it got me nowhere. I also like from the students perspective. People practice once a week and play once a week. There is no way they are going to do this technical stuff. That takes serious work and no one has time for it. Now it is all about fast and easy.

The longest hitter on the PGA Tour does not have a slow easy swing. As a matter of fact, Bryson DeChambeau almost comes out of his shoes he twists so fast. But if you watch his swing in slow motion, it reinforces everything Paul teaches. He fires almost brutally with his hips and if you watch his lead arm, it never gets out in front. His hips and body control the swing speed. Because of his youth and fitness, he can turn a slow easy swing into a tornado, but while doing so he uses every swing fundamental (hips, body, wrists) you see in this video. These are also what dictate not only his distance, but accuracy. It works for old, young, slow and fast. Brilliant stuff that has improved my game tremendously in the last 6 months.

Exactly. I am teaching a swing for a lifetime. Be interesting to see how Bryson's body hold up. Anyone can get some good power if they do it right. No hitting with arms. Use the body for power.

Paul Wilson is a legend! I went through a number of golf coaches and literally had no learning to show for it - came across Paul's videos and his course and I finally understood the golf swing (not to mention the grip and set up) . It's beauty is the simplicity of it - I'm not having to think about hinging my wrists or setting the club in the correct position or impact, all I need to focus on is turning shoulders on the backswing and turning hips on the downswing and physics takes care of the rest! I also would highly recommend Paul's short game course - there's sections on putting, chipping, pitching and sand play - again all so simply explained and not too difficult to master. I don't get to play that often but my putting is on a far higher level than lower handicappers purely from watching Paul's course.

Here is a tale long in the telling… Last year, I was diagnosed with arthritis in my hips, back and shoulders. Playing “arms only” golf is excruciating. Over the past few years, I have celebrated my birthday with a golf marathon (this year, 60 holes for 60 years). I barely made it through, and swore this would be my last year. Recently, I ran across your videos, but more importantly, your method. The full body swing has given me more power, actually helped increase my range of motion. The crucial element is: NO. PAIN. I thank you, and my charity thanks you, because there just might be a “61 for 61” next year!

Paul is good at his craft. Just one thing that requires an adjustment: A RHYTHMIC backswing is the goal. "Slow" can cause "too slow" which can cause a damaging jerkiness in the motion. Hope that that helps everyone! S.

Paul. I am 81 YO. Had hip replacement surgery two years ago. Since then my lower body can lead the upper body in the swing, and I am longer than have been for 20 years. I can now carry over 200 yards. But your specific instruction adds another dimension and I will send for you “free samples” too. Excellent presentation. Golfed 200 times last year to get my “post-surgery” game together. :)

Wow! That's great. So glad you got the new hip. If you can't move them well you won't get the power as you well know. Over 200 is great. Most students maybe hit it 180 and they are in their late 60's early 70's. I want people using the looseness to generate the clubhead speed. Couple this with body rotation and you've got it. My line is "you don't have to be strong to be loose." So anyone should be able to hit the ball with some decent distance. If they aren't they are literally using physical strength and this will never work because as we get older we get weaker. So they will always loose more and more distance. Watch this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5CviGqkopmmqc0 See how little I can put into it and get it to 100mph. For more I just fire the hips faster. You are doing well so I'm not sure if you want a little more or not but if so stay super loose in the wrists and keep firing those hips. Here are 2 drills you can do: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZesfmV9jM9sedU kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnvIcpZ7jsepnq8

Golf is like throwing darts. U have to be easy in ur approach in order to be accurate. U don’t have to squeeze the club to death and hit homeruns. U weigh triple digits in pounds; club weighs about 1 pound; you’re moving it all with speed. F=ma. The ball weighs just over 1 oz. Putting the proper motion with body and club onto the ball...SMASHES it. I love ur videos. Ur channel is great. Thanks for these awsm tips 😎👍

Yes. You can also put weight on one spot and create consistent contact with that spot. I've tried doing the loose and relaxed approach, but it doesn't produce feel. I grip about 4-5 out of 10 and prefer the stack and tilt method. I literally have NO EFFORT in getting to the ball. It's all about BALL POSITION. If you can control that in your setup, you'll hit the ball great 99.9 percent of the time.

Paul, at the driving range yesterday I was using your swing lesson. I was hitting drive after drive with what felt to me was an effortless swing. I could not believe how easy it was. The real kicker though, was not only was the distance good, but the accuracy was great. The last time I checked, the easiest way to lower your score is to hit the ball accurately. Plus, this is an extremely back friendly swing. I ought to know because I had major back surgery, and with this swing I come home feeling really good. Thanks for the swing lessons. Keep up the good work.

And people wonder why I teach this or they doubt me. So glad you tried it and are seeing the results. All I am trying to get people to do is try a different way to hit the ball. Not just for 3 balls though and quit. You need to give it a bucket. Once you see it (as you are) they you know you can do it and want to do it forever. Keep up the good work. Many years of great pain-free golf in your future.

Paul.. ive been playing golf for 2 months straight. im work as a door2door salesman, and my work starts at 14:00. So before that i go to the local golf club and practice 2-3 hours totally alone almost evry day. For maybe 6-7 weeks ive been hitting the ball, tightening my grip, turned my back so explosive because i wanted to hit that ball with my entire power. After watching ur videos late at night when i enjoy a occasianly joint, i sit and deep dive into these videos. For the last 2 weeks, i have not gotten a single blister (from my last grip) or have any backpain. I seriously already after 2 weeks hit the so much purer and with a slow technuiqe. I have lost maybe 3-4 balls on the 6 holes out here last 2 weeks. That is a MASSIVE progress. Im actually having a really good time when i play golf these days. Great video, thanks Paul! I bought your body swing program the other day and have been watching through that, and swinging A LOT in the basement at the practice net. So far the struggle is getting the legs/hips moving and not trying to kill the ball with my arms. I chuckled at your first driver shot here because you make it look really easy. I'll have to go down in a bit and try that nonchalant approach. Maybe sneaking up on it is the answer haha.

Start off slow with this, do not try to get to top speed right away. Work on the swing positions first and then slowly add some more speed to it. If you start off at top speed then you might not be doing the positions, go at about a 50% speed to start with and then slowly speed it up the more confidence you get.

I so lock everything up. I so need to make the changes your suggesting. Legs and hips, easy ones. I did try this earlier today, with the lob wedge. Instead of hitting hard, I was trying to swing with the feet/hips and letting the arms swing loose and easy and wide. I’ll be damned, the ball was bouncing off the club face going further than I would expect. Less success with longer clubs like a 6 iron. Not up to top speed until I get used to this. I’ll keep at it. Thanks for posting Paul.

Glad you found me. The concept is simple. Your arms hinge and rehinge. To to this they need to be loose. There is not power in them so in no way are you trying to hit or help the shot with the arms. This is the arm unit. So work on hinging and rehinging until you rarely ever put slice spin on your shots. This is step one. Once you get that you move to step 2 which is powering the swing with your body. Your body coils then it uncoils. If the lower body starts first you will hit it dead straight. If you are new then start here: Body Swing Concept: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2ncap17rr5ma80 Grip: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIK9faNul6tgjdk Hinge Rehinge: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIvIhaSZr5ejo6c Alginment: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHe9lGONppdraM0 Secure Grip: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGmuZHqZqdCtbaM Best Drill: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYfLpX9jmZZ1b7s Power the swing with the legs and hip not the hands and arms. Hi Paul, I was on the verge of giving up. Like forever. After the worst round you could ever even dare to imagine. I seen this video and it made a lot of sense but so have hundreds of others that I’ve tried and no success for me. However, today (the day after the worst golf day ever when confidence was at an all time low) a light grip, easy swing, smooth, swing from the legs and the hips and wow. I can allow the weight of the club head to pitch the ball whereas I normally skull or fat, I driven the ball well (taken one or two to get rid of the fade as I normally draw the ball) it was unreal. Effortless as you say! I hope to god I can keep what I felt and learnt today as I had two bad swings today and I knew straight away why. My arms got ahead of the body and were too fast and active... thank you

Glad you didn't give up. I have literally taught hundreds of you in my now 30 years. No need to give up. This is so simple. You finally figured out you shouldn't be hitting then you tried it for more than 3 balls and gave up on it. Now you know it works amazingly well. You need to keep doing it. Now, as you hit more and more good ones you will get excited. This will lead to the arms creeping in and you losing it again. As soon as you hit thin, topped, fat or sliced shots immediately go down to 50%. Get it back. Then speed it up with the legs and hips NOT the arms. Watch: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mX_LeqyenpZmbKc

@@rajindersingh419 Absolutely NOT too much repetition! Why not? Because 90 % of the golfers (my estimate) swing using their hands and arms. Until they correct this problem there is no other golf tip that is going to give them a good golf swing. Since this problem continues to exist, mostly unabated, there is no way you can have too much repetition--the concept is too basic!!

As I was swinging it using your instruction I accidentally hit my small plastic waste basket with a little trash in it (meaning it is much heavier than a golf ball) and it went boucing around like I hit it with a hammer. After putting the basket back I got thinking about the facts. A bare shaft (no clubhead) hitting a much heavier (than a golf ball) object and was amazed how much it made it jump. Then thought about a clubhead hitting ball relationship and can imagine the impact effect. I cant wait to be able to get outside to hit some balls. Thank you Paul!

Paul won't say this but I will: all of this demanding of "free" stuff from the Internet is unsustainable. Isn't it enough that Paul has provided so many free instructional videos ... with the hope that a minuscule percentage of KZbin viewers will purchase some of his products ... or pay for lessons with him? Apparently not. Now Paul should go out and purchase a $25,000 TrackMan. I don't know Paul but I suspect that he's not getting rich from being a golf instructor. He's trying to make a living. So instead of asking Paul to purchase a TrackMan, how about buying some of his products? Most of you work for a living -- or once worked for a living. You didn't work for free. What he's saying, put another way...look how much more mass one's legs have vs their arms. If you're driving the swing with legs and hips there is much more power created than with the arms. The key is transferring that power VIA the loose and free arms (so you need a firm grip, but loose wrists) to the ball. I've been implementing Paul's method for the past two years (yes it takes time). I went from a 12 handicap to now a 6 and I'm hitting straight, easy, 275+ drives, my 7 iron goes 165 dead straight, etc. Stick to his teachings and you'll be a much better golfer and as he says, it'll continue into your later years, because it doesn't require brute force, just smooth and easy technique.
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 3 ай бұрын
Exactly, but to get it you need to know how to use the legs and hips and trust that not hitting is going to work. People may try loosening up. They hit 3 balls and because they aren't perfect they quit. People need to realize this is a huge change. Give it one bucket of not hitting with the arms and they will see some amazing shots with no effort. Once they see they can do it hopefully they keep doing it. Glad you stick with me. From a 12 to a 6 is great.

You should be thinking of going from point A (the backswing) to point B (the follow through). You need to make point B more important than hitting the ball. A to B. Right now you are getting distracted as you start hitting which makes the ball point B. So see it differently. Just stick to a pace that you can easily do. As you keep doing it you forget all about hitting the ball. You get confident. When this happens distance just seems to come without thinking about it. I prove this time and time again when I am teaching people. We are working on things. They person starts coming out of the follow through and hitting bad shots. I slow them down and only get the doing the follow through again and in a few swings they are hitting it perfectly again. So try to think differently in the future. The ball will be hit if you move from point A to point B. Thanks for the kind words and support all these years. Let's get it.

I am 63 and have played golf for 50 years. I have had limited success when able to play/practice fairly frequently. However, I can really relate to what Paul is teaching. When younger, I could drive the ball 30 yards farther on the fly. Even though I am flexible and in good shape for my age, I have suffered recent years of frustration and inconsistency with a loss of distance. I have also suffered greatly from lurching at the ball, tightening up at the ball, in an effort to try to increase distance. That hasn't done much for my consistency. This looks to be a much more rational approach to the game for a lifetime. I will commit myself to it. Thanks Paul!

Paul, I was out at the range this morning, starting hitting balls pretty good, because I want to check out my new grips, my accuracy increased immensely, but I caught myself trying to smack the ball, so I was thinking of this video, and told myself out loud slow it down..and not to my amazement, got another 25-50yards..yes it is very difficult to recondition your muscle memory and previous swing out of your mind, I've been away from golf for 25 yrs, In 62 and yes I don't have the distance I once had, hard to accept that but it is what it is unless I recondition my mind for a slower approach to the swing, my consistency has never been good, but I've never taken any drills or lessons, I like the fact that you can give a true representation of what your body should be feeling, no one else does that, you're easy to relate to and aspire me to go through daily drills..My hardest thing to be consistent about is keeping on the same plain when sticking the ball, obviously drills will probably tune that in better..With your instructions I'm able to see the ball better rather than lose it on back swing do to thinking overload...

Then after completely loosing my ability to hit a ball I came back about a week ago and started to listen to your new videos and was hooked. The result was the best 9 hole score of my golf live of over 55 years. Thanks again.

Thank you Paul. I'm a new sub and had sworn off golf videos...until I stumble onto your channel. This is without question the most accurate description of my sing mechanics and resulting inconsistency I've ever heard!. Completing my target rotation and lag have been top of mind lately and I recently started loosening my grip to try to relax my swing. I did noticed an improvement, but now I know that the real reason is the relaxing of my wrists and allowing all the levers in the swing to do their jobs. One more puzzle piece in this beautiful and crazy obsession we call golf. Thank you!

Thanks for the support. I appreciate it. Yes, people can get too much info. As you see I keep it super simple. Work on the arm unit hinging and rehinging until you rarely put slice spin on your shots. At that point you memorize this feel as you switch focus to coiling and uncoiling. This will straighten out the shots. Watch your ball. It will tell you exactly what to do.

@@paulwilsongolf update... Took your relaxed wrist tip to the course today and overshot almost every full swing approach on the front nine I was ecstatic! Almost every shot felt compressed and effortless and I was consistently hitting them 20-30 yards farther than normal....with no fat shots. Back nine I started taking a shorter club and hit more greens than ever, including a couple 200 yard 5 irons (a 1st for me) Thank you, thank you.

The tendency will be to keep hitting harder and harder when really you should be thinking ... repeat ... repeat. If you lose it immediately go down to 50% swing speed and build it back up. Paul - I watched this video for the first time today, but I knew you were 1000% correct in your swing assessment. I have always tried to crush the ball most of my life with varying results. However, I know my best drives come when I take it easy and try to make a smooth swing. Last time at the range, I bombed a few around 300 yds with a really easy swing. You confirmed this notion and now I just need to do it consistently. Thanks for the great tips!

Very good. I am slowly getting to people. Now you see it why would you ever swing harder. If you swung out of your shoes and got double the yardage I would tell you to keep doing it but you don't so there is no payoff. Just memorize your speed. I like 80%. That's a good number for me. I took your tips to the driving range today and after a bucket of balls it just stuck with me and i made some good straigt shots. However, being so happy about that fact (and making my hybrid work again) i didn’t stop for 2 hours straight. Once i hit the field to play the front nine, it all came apart. I guess i was too tired and couldn’t work the rotation and hips well enough. Some bright spots though and short game was on point. But as you’ve said it’ll take time and adjustment (i am an over the top and arms kind of player normally) and just having the effortless feeling for those two hours was great. Going out there again on wednesday. This time only gonna shoot a bucket to get the relaxed effortless feeling back and then go play. I’ve watched nearly every damn video on the golf swing and your videos really stand out and provided some fresh air in a much clouded technical world. Thanks!

Paul Wilson Golf Absolutely correct, i am impatient by nature :) However! I saw that your approach worked wonders for me in that short timeframe already on the first try, so i am going to go at it with more patience and know it’ll work out. Also found out that our local pro teaches the same fundamentals as you, hinge, hips and all. Man, that sweet sweet sound of the hybrid connecting with the golf ball dead on and shooting it 175-200 meters (european here) with hardly any effort was brilliant.

Dear Paul, what you explain makes truly sense. Gyus like me who have started golf as older but played long time other individual sports, have the movements of those sports in our nerve system, and therefore not easy to get rid of them. The body composure and postures are in Golf different than in tennis for example. And looseness concept is also different. So i found this video very useful. Thank you for sharing 👍

This actually works. I was at a wall with my driver at 108-112mph. Applied the "loose whippy" swing with zero hand tension, zero wrist tension and could print 118-120mph with way less effort. I've swung it to 129mph several times....looking forward to being able to repeat that. BTW...I'm 60 yrs old :) Strangely enough I found that addressing the ball like Mo...6-8 inches behind the ball, aligning your collar bone to your club head path, stacking, then swinging on your collar bone swing path increased the club speed a lot. See videos on Mike Austin/Mike Dunaway for sliding the hips and stacking the spine over your hip joint, and rotating around upper spine (7th cervical if I recall) which, if you are slightly bent over aligns perfectly with the center of your collar bone down to your club head. Right foot slightly back and slightly turned out, slide the hips and only rotate them 23 degrees, load the weight pressure on the outside of the right foot...create a trebuchet in your mind using your wrist as the hinge point...and reverse. You'll discover the sweet spot by swinging about 10-15mph less than your max effort...just relax, create the trebuchet in your mind, then suddenly your clubhead speed will jump a good 10mph...and you will have no idea what you just did lol....keep practicing, and you'll find it. A swing speed radar is a must if you're serious about your clubhead speed practice. About a hundred bucks. Worth the money.

Ernie Els, (the Big Easy)...Fred Couples, Hale Irwin, and so many others. Paul, you have just unlocked my fascination with trying to figure out how John Daly's down swing sometimes appears slower than his back swing as he crushes a 300 yard 3 wood effortlessly or a 200 yard 8 iron..the loose wrists activated by the hips and legs...excellent insight and understanding of the secret to power. Lee Trevino, Hubert Green, and the Cuban Chi Chi Rodriguez all have taken your teaching secret to the game masterfully. (as you know) Thank you for reminding me of something I've believed my whole life ( i'm an ex college golfer)...strong arm drives lead more 18th hole tournament leaders into the rough, sand, under a tree when we all could have plainly said to that guy...just ease a 3 iron or fluff a 5 wood IN THE MIDDLE and win this thing! But nooooo... a huge, go for broke, swing out of his shoes 125 mph canon blast through the fairway into trouble. Anyway, thank you for the video and common sense. The hardest game on earth does have secrets...and masters like you that have found one. Remember Jack Nicklaus (or Tiger) standing over a. 8-10 foot putt? It either hit the hole and missed, or dropped 99.999%... masters with secrets to the game....remember to always "make the ball hit the hole" no matter the mind being taxed by other thoughts. Again, thanks.

Glad you like the tips and are starting to see it. It's just a different power source. Keep in mind pros are pros. They don't need the money. They have a crowd standing right on the tee watching them. They are hyped up. What are they going to do baby one out there? No. They go for it. Once in a while it pays off. Most of the time it blows into the gallery on the right because they come out of it. Start watching Sunday golf are hole 14 and in and count how many go right versus left. If only they would swing at 80%. Oh, well maybe one day we will see one that NEVER swings beyond what they are capable of. 300-320 dead straight all day. Scheffler is pretty close to that.

Thank you. I do have a question, for a good player that adheres to your principles, have you ever found that because of their easier swing they end up going back to a softer shaft flex? I was just fitted to x stiff in my driver. I am 6’3 and 235 but I was swing much harder at time of fitting. Have not had a chance to hit since then, but your videos have me thinking about if my flex is correct to what I’m trying to do now. Thank you again for your videos. Sharing them now with my friends.
