Thank Ken Holland's dumb ass for giving Pav a 3 yr deal at that rediculous price! Pav clearly didnt want to come back after the lockout, and during his last extension if Holland woulda went year to year on a deal instead of trying to go as long term as possible, the Wings wouldnt be in this situation. The guys management skills are trash. His last big trade was to bring in Brad Stuart. Hasnt made a descent move since. And his biggest mistake, keepin that bum Franzen over Marion Hossa. Thanks for the memories Pav! Best of luck in Russia! Enjoy your farewell tour!
@gamersxs8 жыл бұрын
We'll see how self righteous you are in a few seasons when it becomes glaringly obvious just how much Pav's early exit is going to cost this team. We're in salary cap hell right now and it's all thanks to Pav. Yeah he did a lot for this organization but he went back on his word and dishonored his contract while royally screwing our future in the process. I call it even.
@gamersxs8 жыл бұрын
Leaving for your family is justified, what isn't justified is signing a three year contract knowing that you already had intentions of leaving for Russia since the 2012-2013 lockout season (which he openly admitted btw). So if you wanted to leave since then, why sign a three year agreement in 2014? How is that even remotely considered responsible? He could have gone year to year but why do that when he can earn over 22 million dollars the first two years of the contract and then split to Russia in the final year of the contract, the year Detroit was supposed to get a return on their investment? Pretty convenient timing. But let's ignore that, and say it was 100% family related and the 22 mil had nothing to do with it... WHY sign a three year contract? Either way you look at it, it was an irresponsible move and cost this team BIG both short term and long term. Weather we eat his cap hit or trade the dead contract, we lose. I love Pav just as much as anyone, he was a remarkable player and helped us win the cup in 07 and carried us to the finals in 08 but sometimes you have to put your fandom bias aside and look at things from a realistic perspective. Any way you look at this, it's absolutely devastating for this team. And it didn't have to end this way. He could have gone year to year (albeit he would have made less money) or he could have honored his agreement and played out the final year of his contract. Now there is a black hole in the salary cap and the only way out of it is to give up a piece of our future. Unless Ken Holland manages to pull a rabbit out of a hat, we're going to lose something big but he's even less optimistic than I am. "Are we going to be compromised? Absolutely," Holland said. "Is it going to affect some of the things we can do? Absolutely. You'd be dreaming if you think that having a $7.5 million cap hit on our cap space has no effect on our ability to do business. It's a huge hole. It's a really difficult situation. I'll try to manage it the very best we can. We're in a tough spot."

I love Pav, but he had 1 year left on his Red Wings contract and should have fulfilled that. Something I'll never get over. Had he fulfilled his contract, I think it'd be a no brainer that his 13 would be in the rafters. I still think it should be there, but who knows if it'll happen now.

Kenny Holland is to blame for this stupid 3 yr contract signing. Had Holland not mismanaged several contracts such as Ericsson, Howard, Weiss, and Franzen we very well may have been contenders. If we were cup contenders it may have swayed pavs to stay one last season. Now as it stands we wont be able to move pavs contract thus we are effectively out of the stamkos sweepstakes. nice job kenny, no seriously you're the best.
