Pressure (poor fish handling) and higher summer temps leading to fish kill? Max did hook a 20"+ fish that we did not get on camera, but that fishery is not what it used to be. I don't think the Blue even meets the requirements to be a Gold Medal water any longer.

mostly poor flow management in the summer leading to wonky water temps and unstable flows during spawning. Unfortunately the Blue is at the mercy of Denver water demand so it isn't managed as a fishery first and foremost.

That river is stocked with very large fish about 3 times per year. It has nothing to do with the mysis shrimp anymore. Good try dude. Sometimes the town buys the fish, sometimes the State does. The fish come from the same ponds that supplies trout to Boxwood Gulch. LMAO

So...I've heard this rumor but never been able to validate it. For example, the CPW stocking report shows they stocked it 03-30-2022 and previously 06-29-2018. (cpw.state.co.us/thingstodo/pages/stockingreport.aspx) There is no doubt that the fish that live in the system feed on Mysis Shrimp. There is also not doubt that any water way that has that bug introduced into the system produces large fish. The Taylor and Frying Pan are two excellent examples of this. It wouldn't surprise me that they stock bruisers from time to time. We have seen them put into Clear Creek in the past for example. There are also stories about this happening on the Frying Pan right before surveys are taken so who knows. Regardless Pav's Mysis fishes great in all of those systems. Thanks for watching!
