SHINee were pretty much babies when they debuted. The oldest member, Onew (he's wearing a hat in the video), was 18, as was Jonghyun (he's the one in the cafe in the beginning of the video). Minho (he's the one at 6:45 in your video) and Key (whom you know) were both 16, while Taemin was 14, and an actual baby with the bowl cut.

Technically they were all a year younger because in Korea, you're already a year old when you're born. So really, they were 17, 17, 15, 15, and 13, respectively.

Im a BIG fans of Linkin Park too...when i was senior high school my friend gave me LP's cassets for my birthday present coz i really love them, and ofcourse i loooveee chez sooo muchh... This was tough for me. I couldn't watch the whole video. As soon as Jonghyun came on, I started tearing up and had to leave. His death is still hard to accept for me. I am proud that the group has persevered and I support them wholeheartedly. I can watch their individual projects and do. I just can't watch them as a group. It's too painful. SHINee was the first boy kpop group I ever listened to. They debuted in 2008, but I first listened to them in 2009. I watched them grow up and become men. I loved them always. They never let me down. Taemin is my bias, but I loved Jonghyun for always being there to protect Tae. At his brattiest, and trust me, Tae was the WORST (lol), he would just laugh and let him be. The group is so special. Thank you for being so respectful. I know it's been almost two years, but for some of us, it might as well have been yesterday, it still cuts that deep.

They really paved the way. They set the trend of young flower boy type of group (means they are so pretty like a flower) and also set the trend of colorful skinny jeans could be worn by guys (because of their song, Juliet). They literally blew up because of this song & a lot of variety shows back then used this song as serenade to older women by young men (there are a lot of matchmaking programs back then).

Ring Ding Dong and Lucifer really helped put SHINee on the map and they just continually evolved and setted trends during their time. I highly recommend you check out their discography. The Nuna (the older girl the members of SHINee have a crush on that they are singing to) in their "Replay" MV is the leader of their sister group****. Her name is Victoria and she is from the group F(x). This MV came out more than a year before F(X) debuted so this was Victoria even before debut. (Funny thing is Victoria is native Chinese and she says she was still learning Korean during this time and she could barely even say SHINee.) Victoria was so perfect in this role because she is a few years older than any of the SHINee members so she fit well as the lead actress in this MV. As the song says, 'Nunan neomu yeppeo .... replay, replay, replay ...." In other words they are saying "pretty older woman I really like you and I think you like me too ... every time I see you I need a replay of the moment over and over again in my head." Nunan neomu yeppeo is a Korean term that essentially means "Pretty older woman" Yeppeo is a term that means beautiful that is only used by guys to describe a beautiful woman that is older than them. There really isn't a literal translation of the term so that is why the song is called "Replay" in English. But in Korean it is called "Nuna neomu yeppeo." That's why if you watch SHINee on a lot of variety shows and TV programs the older women in the show often ask SHINee to sing this song to them. ****Groups are considered sister/brother groups to each other when they are groups who are under the same label who usually debut within a few years or less of each other and they are usually groups that are similar in size (number of members), the members are all close in age, and they often have similar concepts and music styles. For example, SHINee and F(x) are brother/sister groups because they are both SM Entertainment groups, they debuted within a year of each other, they both are 5 member groups and they have similar music styles and concepts, etc. Most groups and companies within the Kpop industry work this way. And these groups are often paired together for special stages and projects. such as being featured in each other's MVs, etc. This is considered one of the best debut songs of all time for any Kpop artist because its so timeless and it never goes out of style or sounds outdated no matter how old it gets. This song makes all the women swoon. You just witnessed baby SHINee and were already blown away, just imagine what it will be like as you go through their discography and MVs. Like I often remind people who are new to Kpop, when watching these older MVs you have to put everything in context of when it was released. Yes, you are so right, this song was actually ahead of its time in 2008 when it first came out. SHINee are known for never being afraid to experiment with their style and sound in a song and for the fact that no two songs of their's will ever be the same even on the same album. SHINee are always setting trends never following them Nothing you hear from SHINee will ever sound the same and yet somehow it will always sound like SHINee. You also have to keep in mind that this was SHINee's debut song and MV. So when you put it all in to perspective its super impressive and shows just how talented even as teenagers they were. If you want to see where SHINee truly shines you have to watch some of their live concert footage and you should check out their iconic performance of "Replay" Live at their SHINee World concert in 2015. Did you know that SM originally wanted to make SHINee a hip-hop group because that was the style of music that was really popular in 2008 when they debuted. That's why Key and Minho are both rappers and how Taemin started out as a popper in dance. Taemin is considered one of THE BEST dancers in the industry and that's not just by fans but by everyone in the industry, both young and old. Taemin's nickname is the Korean Micheal Jackson. As you can see by this MV, even at 14, Taemin was one of the best dancers in the industry, and you will soon discover with the more that you watch from SHINee and Taemin's solo work that he has only gotten more magnificent over the years. Taemin truly is art when it comes to his performances. SHINee are one of the top groups that are known for the fact that they all can do it all. They are a group of 5 amazing vocalists, 5 impressive dancers, 5 visuals, 5 rappers, 5 top actors, and 5 of the most talented and unique voices in all of Kpop. Once you get to know them better you will wonder how it was even possible that you couldn't tell them apart. As a Shawol (a SHINee fan) I tell people that once you get to know their voices you will always be able to pick them out of a crowd just by the sound of their voice. I can tell who is speaking or singing within 1 second even with my eyes closed with them standing in a crowd of people. Each of their voices are that unique -- there is no one with a voice like any of their's. That is why they are the princes of Kpop. SHINee are known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers because they sound just as good live, if not better, than they do recorded. SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. They have trained their entire career to be able to sing live and always sound flawless while performing extremely complex choreography. You really should check out some of their live performances because their stages are like none other. Their concerts last 3 to 4 hours straight and they perform nonstop and never sound out of tune or out of breath. They are also one of the best dancers in Kpop and they have some of the best harmonies you will ever hear. If you know EXO then you know how good of vocalists they are, well the members of SHINee actually were mentors to a lot of the EXO members and they helped coach them in their singing. The EXO members and SHINee members are all around the same age and they were in the same trainee classes together and yet SHINee debuted almost 5 years before EXO, so that just goes to show you a little bit of what makes SHINee so amazing and why they are considered legends.

SHINee was a trend setter when they first debuted that there was something in Korea called dressed in a SHINee style which means trendy and avant-garde. Their music is similar to no one else, they have unique music, voices and song choices which separates them from any other group. I know that you knew about EXO and they are EXO’s seniors and vocal mentors under SM ent. SHINee is a legendary group and if you are going to listen to their live performance, then they are the Kings of Live vocals and harmonization ❤️❤️❤️ When they debut their oldest was 19 and the youngest was 14 which was Taemin, making him the only Kpop member in history to debut in a very young age 👌👌👌

I'm also glad that you reacted to Replay first, since it is introducing you to how SHINee started and the music that they began with...as the years progress, their discography has definitely expanded as for more (sort of) recent tracks, my favorites are Shift, Married to the Music, View, Tell Me What to Do, Odd Eye, Symptoms, All Day All Night, Excuse Me Miss, Feel Good, Prism, Like a Fire and personally, I think SHINee's absolute gems are their live stages and B-side tracks instead of their title/main songs...please check those out too!!!!
