SHINee’s musical progression is an EXPERIENCE. I’d say my next reaction suggestion would be for 2012’s Sherlock, but I actually think the dance video for that one has more of an impact than the music video itself. At the time, Sherlock was SM’s (and likely Kpop as a whole’s) most expensive choreography. Tony Testa, Michael Jackson’s former choreographer, came in and worked on it for them and the outcome was a masterpiece. The dance went viral all over Korea and it remains one of their most successful releases to date. Thank you so much for taking the time to react to these guys. They really are next level.

A lot of new kpop fans think 1 and 2nd gen fans are "elitists" when we say we miss old school but music prior to like 2014, kpop was distinct enough that you could tell it wasn't completely American style sang in Korean. Though I enjoy some of the newer music coming out, I feel like the eccentric nature of kpop music videos, hair, choreo and costumes have been watered down by American trends because of the push to be recognized in the west and it's saddening. Lucifer among many others of this time is the pinnacle of what made kpop so different. I do find it amusing/adorable when I watch reactions of new fans of older songs lol

shinee harmonies are on another level, their voices were made for each other 💎 there’s actually three titles/mvs between replay and this one! love like oxygen, juliette, and ring ding dong 😋 i love all 3 (love like oxygen is actually one of my fave shinee songs Period) but out of them, one to go back to is ring ding dong, it’s a MUST. she’s so iconic. it was actually banned in schools after it came out in 2009 bc it got stuck in student’s heads and distracted them during college entrance exams LMAO. then the next song after that would be sherlock (2012) !! edit: forgot to include a.mi.go, the repackage title after love like oxygen !! thank you commenters :) my point still stands

Hi Ben, thanks so much for showing love and appreciation for SHINee's vocals, choreo and visuals. As a shawol (SHINee world - fan club name), it's always very pleasing to see someone discovering SHINee. You're right, there are at least 3 mvs between Replay and Lucifer that you haven't seen yet haha SHINee has always been a group that started trends. Their music is timeless and can be enjoyed even 10 years down the road. Lucifer will always be a jam, especially for kpop fans who have been around since pre-2012. Although I agree with your commentary on their harmonies, I do hope that subsequent listens to this song will help you savour the unison sections as well. The melody in Lucifer is generally simple but the harmonies and accompaniment really keep things interesting. In fact, many SHINee songs have extremely tight harmonies (as with many other SM groups). I'm really looking forward to seeing your exploration of the diverse concepts that SHINee has delivered flawlessly over their 11 year career. I just know that you'll love them more and more, much like the thousands of shawols who have stuck with the group all this time.

If you wanted to do in chronological order you skipped a bit there! What I would have watched after Replay is "Love Like Oxygen" also from 2008 which gave them their first win and is also one of my favourite choreos, and "Ring Ding Dong" from 2009, which is the song that brought them to public attention! Catchy as hell and a must-know for any SHINee fan. Lucifer was released in 2010, so it was actually 9 years ago haha. After Lucifer I'd suggest watching "Sherlock", from 2012 and one of the most iconic SHINee choreographies!

Lucifer created so many Shawols. It was my first SHINee song, so it's special to me as well. Legend has it, the dance practice video also started the trend of posting dance practices. So thank you yet again, SHINee. We're so lucky that these five guys came together as a group, seriously. Although I don't know if it's safe to react to their Japanese discography due to copyright stuff, there are some real gems that casual fans seem to miss out on. Some of my favourites and what stands out about them: 2013 - Password (live stages) - there's not even choreo, it just has this buildup and execution I find magnetic 2014 - Picasso (dance beat) 2014 - 3 2 1 (MV concept) 2016 - Wishful Thinking (groove & harmonies) - this song, though, for real 2016 - Your Number (choreo & styling) 2017 - Gentleman (retro sound) 2017 - Get the Treasure (MV execution) - so few people react to this MV, but it never disappoints I think you'd love Get the Treasure's MV. It's a technical spectacle. 3 2 1's paper cutout concept is really charming as well. Goes without saying that the songs are jams.

Inbetween Lucifer and Replay were Amigo, Love Like Oxygen, Juliette and Ring Ding Dong. Love Like Oxygen is definitely the best of the four imo if you wanna do an older one. Ring Ding Dong is a big hit of their’s but it hasn’t aged gracefully. For a newer one, Sherlock is absolutely dynamite, from 2012. It’s a stellar song. Edit: Forgot to say, pleasure to see someone newly appreciating SHINee even in 2019!
