Danya, I just want to say please don’t stop making these endgame videos because they have less views. They may not be as popular as opening videos or the speedrun but it does not change the fact that endgame lessons are absolutely necessary. What’s more is that other chess content creators do not tend to go into endgames and when they do, do not go into the same level as depth. You are doing the chess community all over the world a massive service!
@reesem64112 жыл бұрын
Danya thanking us for sticking around for the whole video, when its us who should be thanking him. I have no problem with long videos, that just means that its more in depth and overall we the viewers are learning more. 26:22 - I'm sitting here staring at the board for 10 minutes, thinking each pawn is about to promote on the next move, not able to figure out how black is going to skewer white. I unpause the video and Danya's like, "The pawns are going the opposite direction." And then the exercise is much easier! If only there were numbers and letters on the board that made it easy to tell which way the pawns were going. There are? Oh, right. Maybe I should look at those more often.

8:50 Rule 1: Don‘t take unnecessary pawns. 15:15 Rule 2: Don‘t put your king in the checking zone of your opponents passing pawns. 25:05 Rule 3: Simultaneous queen promotion doesn’t always imply a draw. 29:30 Rule 4: Use your king to force the other king into the checking zone of your passing pawns or to prevent the other king from stopping your pawn. 41:45 Rule 5: Prepare for a pawn race by pushing the prospective passer beforehand. 41:55 Bonus rule: You don‘t always have to participate in a pawn race.

great idea for a series. I am liking all the videos. I have to go to bed but I got 18 minutes in calculating all the positions in my head. Pawn Race Rules 1. Do not capture unnecessary pawns. 2. Do not step away into the checking zone of your opponent's passer. 3. Simultaneous promotion /= draw. 4. Use your king to force the enemy king into the checking zone or to prevent the enemy king from stopping your pawn. 5. Prepare for pawn races by pushing the prospective passer beforehand. Bonus: You don't always have to participate in a pawn race.

As an 1800 OTB player I think this was quite instructive. I can IF I have enough time on the clock brute force calculate these positions, but understanding there is a short cut in how I think about the position could save many games that end in a time scramble. We've all been there OTB everyone has used up all their time and playing on their increments or close to it. It is difficult to achieve reliable results without having this type of knowledge even if you could calculate it in perfect conditions. Thanks for this.
