If you ever had an important job where many lives or many billions of dollars can be lost to communication misunderstanding: this is the correct way to say it. Saying "Sixty" would get you packin and shipped out, escorted out by security. Because "ty" is not a number. Sixty can be mistaken as Sixteen. You say Six Zero. Or Six Four.

@@dr2stroke611 Early games had their share of bugs, were too short and often rushed. Many publishing houses disappeared after a short time, some were decent but didnt survive the shakedown. Other games were as difficult as their arcade counterparts and that made it no fun. This computer basically kept the video/computer game market going while Atari fell apart.

I bought mine from an ad in the local classifieds in either 1996 or 1997. System, manuals, programmers guide, books, printer, 3 drives, tape drive, TONs of games and software (including 3 or 4 complete boxed infocom games). All for $15. It amazes me that could get anything close to $250 for that today, but just my infocom games alone might fetch nearly that much on ebay. I love my C64, but adding a single item to my collection these days Costs me more than my entire collection has so far. Crazy.

I disagree. There were better computers and others that made history in their own way. The C64 made history by being quite powerful and cheap. It's the cheapness that put me off it, although parents bought my sister a Commodore 16 that I quite liked to keep her off my Atari 800XL, which was overall a better machine than the C64 and the 400/800 were history makers themselves in their design, which was way before their time. The guy who designed the Amiga chipset also designed some or all of the custom chips in the Atari.

Yes, you could do spreadsheets with a Commodore 64. You could do word processing with it. You could even play video games with it! However, there was no Internet in 1982. So, you can't hook up a Commodore 64 to the Internet today. Unless you put in an Ethernet port, but again. This was a pre-internet computer. It has its limitations.

Because they write them on modern computers with cross compilers and other design tools, which makes a huge difference in efficiency for the coder. I don't see why anyone acts so incredulous about computers from this period still working if they've been at least garage stored in a box. Minimal voltage, and everything in them is solid state with no moving parts. They'll work more often than they won't. When the last mechanical hard drive goes belly up or a CMOS battery pukes acid onto the last PC motherboard, you'll still be able to boot up your C64 or ZX81 or whatever.

$250 is absolutely fair for that setup. He has clearly cared for it and the plastic has barely discoloured on the printer FFS. to have it all, with OG boxes and manuals in near mint condition is worth about $400-$500 retail

in the early days of Ebay, I used to buy these for $5.00 each. (but it cost more than that to ship). The prices are steadily rising on these. I have an extensive Computer and Video game collection.. including 13 Coin Op machines and one pinball machine. ... The C64 and the Amiga's will always be my favorite computers!
