It amazes me that could get anything close to $250 for that today, but just my infocom games alone might fetch nearly that much on ebay. I disagree. There were better computers and others that made history in their own way. The C64 made history by being quite powerful and cheap. It's the cheapness that put me off it, although parents bought my sister a Commodore 16 that I quite liked to keep her off my Atari 800XL, which was overall a better machine than the C64 and the 400/800 were history makers themselves in their design, which was way before their time. The guy who designed the Amiga chipset also designed some or all of the custom chips in the Atari.

Rick went and paid way too much. Commodores are literally everywhere.

I used to have at least 50 of them in a storage shed new in box. Threw them all out years ago because they aren't at all rare and no one wants them since they were really crap to begin with and you can run anything they would run on an emulator with most any computer built this century.

@@kg4boj the sid sound chip alone is worth 20 to 40 dollars.

You think your Commodore 64 is really neat-o. What kind of chip you got in there, a Dorito?

I had a Commodore Vic 20. Great machine too. I got fed up quickly playing space invaders. I could make a deal with a good friend for a second hand car. Much better deal than 150$ !

150? 😮 over here a c64 that works would cost at least 500

I had one of these back in the 80's, I had a bunch of different games for it. It was just like an Atari but better.

......and cheaper. Commodore owned MOS technologies. So Commodore manufactured their own hardware.

He paid too much for that. I got a boxed C64c with the Disk Drive in a massive box that was sold in Software, Etc, back in the late 80s' for $300. I paid $99 for it a couple of years ago. The printer is pretty much useless, unless you can find an outlet that can refurbish the ink ribbon.

300 bucks and blew away the apple two and the ibm PC it was a color machine before apple or ibm
@markinnes42647 жыл бұрын
Not true, the Apple 2 did color in 1977. The C64 was more like 1981
@biscuitdingus6 жыл бұрын
IBM 5150 had a CGA video card and color monitor option in 1981. And even that was not the first color computer. The Apple II in 1977 also had color options.
