Especially when offering a sword where Rick takes all of the risk and has to spend lavishly to get it framed. Because he can’t just sell it like that and if he did auctions take a very long time and they have all those fees. Either way he is gonna sit on the sword a long time cause he doesn’t have a ton of people coming into his shop looking for 1836 foot artilleryman swords.

For reference, when it says only 922 were treated in hospitals for sword wounds, remember that it is possible that many or even most encounters with a sword, would be almost immediately lethal, being impaled or your throat slashed is a no survival circumstance, so the troops nearby that might hope to carry the wounded to a hospital tent would likely just have to march on seeing as, they wouldn't be able to even pick them up before they died, where as the majority of a blast radius, or various shrapnel will more often maim or lead to severe bleeding or broken bones, that are disabling and require hospitalization, but less guaranteed lethality. While yes a direct hit to the solar plexus is lethal, regardless of if its a sword or shrapnel, keep in mind that the sword is being directly controlled by a wielder who can aim and adjust to get precise strikes on such weak points, where as shrapnel, or spray and pray tactics is relatively more like a dice roll that can leave more relatively lucky people alive to reach those hospitals that record the numbers.

Agree. I prefer items that were actually used in the field rather than new, stored away pieces. I recently sold a 1943 USMC machete that got more valuable because someone had carved cross-hatching in the grip, no doubt because it was used in the field during WWII.

Yeah there's a reason not many people were treated for sword wounds, if an enemy has gotten close enough to you to use his sword, well he ain't gonna cut you and run away, he's going to chop and stab until you're no longer alive. There are far more bullet wound survivors because of the distance and ability to run if hit and because of the reload times back then, it wasn't likely that the same person who just shot you was going to hit you again the next time
