There is always someone that will pay you more. Someone will think it’s cool and worth more or someone wants it for parts to put an original bike back together. I’ve had something listed for sale for a few years before it sold to get what I wanted.
@peanutbutterisfu
@peanutbutterisfu 2 жыл бұрын
@@bingevintage8124 yeah not true for custom stuff. There is no market value for items that are one of a kind it’s all a guess. There is a market value for a 2005 Harley, a 2015 Honda, a pair of headphones because they aren’t one of a kind. 199 people could come look at this bike and only offer 5-6k but then the 200th person comes along and wants this bike because his dad built one similar when he was a kid and is willing to pay whatever for it, this guy might not know anything about bikes me might just look up what an original 57 is going for seeing they are 25k and think 15k for this bike is a steal or he just doesn’t care about the price he just needs it for the sentimental value. The only thing the market really has any effect on custom one of a kind vehicles is if that vehicle is in style At the time if that style bike is demand it will sell quickly for good money if it’s not in style it will take longer to sell and generally for less money but again there is always someone out there looking for what ur selling and willing to pay for it you just have to wait for it to happen. I’m in the car business and even though when buying ur regular cars that anyone can search the values of people still over pay in retail settings. I know a customer that bought a 2010 Ford ranger a few months ago for $12,500 from a used car dealer that’s just insane money. One of my friends paid $4,500 for the same truck 3 years ago from a private person, so they paid 8,000 less and the truck. Was 3 years newer. When people buy vehicles retail from dealers they always pay more and when they are using a loan people get really stupid because they just sign for it and make payments. I don’t have my used car lot anymore but I know one of the banks I did business with would give a loan on this bike and I know that if it was put in the front line of a used car lot in the beginning of the year someone would buy it for a good 12k

What I hate more is the folks (owner) who care NOTHING about the crap they got sitting in their own yard for 35 years, then when somebody shows an interest in it, they (owner) thinks it is worth top dollar, when it now needs four times as much money just to get it running again and ignore the fact it will take four years to even get it road legal again!! A situation I seem to constantly run into around my area!! Owner wants $32,000 for a car that has sat in the woods, sunk into the ground for 30 years, and now it needs $200,000 worth of parts and labor just to reclaim it as a "car" or a "vehicle" to start with!! BUT because the guy saw one on Jackson Barrett Auction last week sell for $40,000 he automatically thinks his is worth nearly the same price!! He ignored the fact that the Jackson Barrett car actually RUNS and you could license it tomorrow!

The problem with modded anything is that not everybody has the same tastes, it drops the value way more then people think it does because it forces a seller to find a buyer that either loves it as it sits, which is rare, or somebody that's willing to put money into it to get it where they want it which means they aren't willing to spend a lot initially on it.

There's a few other issues with your paragraph also. It appears you added a double space after the word "a lot" near the end of the paragraph. Also, you need to break the paragraph up into separate sentences as it's quite a long sentence. For example, you could've added a period after the words "same tastes" but you failed to do so. The length of the sentence just makes it awkward. Also, LMAO in your subsequent comment is not a real word. Very disappointing. Do better next time, good sir.

$2500 is still steep for a motor and rear wheel, but a ton of OE style bits and pieces are still available. Shame it got butchered.BTW Corey the first unit construction H-D was the K Model in 1952. Same bike with a side valve 750 CC top end from the good ol' 45's

my first Harley was a 57 sportster on a stock frame with a weld on hardtail chrome engine springer and a 16" rear wheel and a flat steel fender. I paid 2K for it in 1981, no battery, magnito and a custom $1600 paint job... I put a dual disc stock lowrider front end and sold it for $1830 after I rode the crap out of it for 5 years... this old time is dreaming at 15K pawn shop was right in line at 2K

I wouldnt have modded the bike. Would have appreciated that collectors would want to preserve it. The original wouldnt have done it for me so I probably would've gotten involved in some horse trading. That being said, I have a 57 ironhead that is a 9' wheelbased, hardtailed, springer frontend I found already started. Still running the magneto. Temperamental bike but boy do I love it. This bike on the vid was nice. I'd been into buying it around 3 or 4k.

If you put an S&S carb and electronic ignition on it, it'll be a one kicker. Three when mine is cold. The first two is switch off, two pumps on the throttle, and it wets the cylinder. Then, switch on, she fires. That's with 10:1 compression and Andrews Y cams. It starts better with the 10:1 than stock. Cause it hits. It does have an S&S, but it looks like an Old Super B, which is a good carb, but better for Big Bikes. Super E is better on Ironheads. And make sure the valves aren't tight. If you don't hear them, they're tight. You can tell an Ironhead without looking. Mine is a very dependable bike. Had it since 91.

Also the expert in this case is paid by the show and he's there to low-ball the customer so the pawn shop can rip off the customer. I wouldn't give to schitts about what an expert has to say! If you know your bike you know what you're selling.
