That expert was so wrong. There are multiple regiments that function as the Queen's Guard, they are not solely dedicated to protecting the Queen, they all go on active combat duty abroad. I think this armour belongs to cavalry. In modern times the cavalry are armoured vehicle regiments and are frequently deployed abroad. They are genuine serving soldiers, not just ceremonial.

That would be a Queen’s Life Guard uniform. They take guard at horse guards parade in Whitehall, and the Household Cavalry consist of two regiments: The Life Guards- Red Tunic, White Plume on helmet. The Blues and Royals: Dark Blue Tunic, Red Plume on helmet. They also deploy on operations around the world, from Iraq to Afghanistan and even USA and Africa. I know this because I’m a future Irish Guard myself.

I like how the "expert" knew even less than Rick. The queens life guard is based out of Hyde park barracks(consisting of the life guard red tunics white plumes and blues and royal blue tunics red plumes) they are posted as guards for surprisingly horse guards as a cavalry regiment they if needed gallop up to Buckingham palace in times of need. Also not just a ceremonial regiment as stated but part of the elite HCR armoured reconnaissance regiment based in Windsor they split duties with combat and ceremonial 2years with the horses 2 with the combat same as most of the household division of footguards and mounted.

'lifeguards' uniform, purely ceremonial these days but still issued & used, though probably not built to the same standard, I was in the 'Blues & Royals' together with the Lifeguards, they make up what is called the 'Household Cavalry', both regiments do however have a modern half, which is an armoured vehicle regiment & serve in most conflicts that have happened since armoured vehicles came into service in the British army

It should take about 1 second to identify that helmet as being English as it says quite clearly on it, 'Honi Soit Qui Mal e Pense' which is part the English coat of arms. It is Latin, and translated is, 'Evil to him who thinks evil' The rose of England is on all the medallions. The oak and laurel leaves are also typically English. This is ceremonial, or, Parade Armour......not meant for battle and relatively new.
