Well it's actually not a joke, my Dad owns a speedboat he bought like in the early 90's and spent like 10-15 years trying to sell it and then ultimately he was just like fuck it I will keep it and they still use it to this day. Point is, it's hard to sell a used boat. I am not saying a plane is gonna be easier but I can definitely say I've heard the "boats are just holes in the water you throw money into" jokes before.

I think part of that is they pick key times when the can get people in for shots. The camera crew likely have the other customers clear the filiming area until they are done with that particular deal they wanted to film. They likely do have an estimate of what it will cost as well as a mximum budget on it. However, with repairs, nothing is certain.

Keep in mind he also bought the trailer and that boat had TWIN I/O's . The boat is either a Chris Craft Scorpion or a Stinger . He bought a boat that will actually appreciate in value if it's well taken care of . It's a very, very, desirable boat. Michael Mann , "Miami Vice" knew exactly what he was doing when he chose a Chris Craft Stinger to be the original Miami Vice boat . If you've ever had the chance to ride in one you'll learn real fast why the call em the cadillacs of boats .
