I know this comment is old, and it might have simply been a typo or an auto-correct, but just in case. "congenital" typically refers to a disease that you're born with. "congenial" is the word you were looking for, and it's really easy to confuse the two words visually. I'm not trying to be a grammar nut or a know-it-all, just helpful to anyone who might confuse the two words.

Old man dropped the “ball” on buying that Yankees signature ball from the 1951 World Series team. I know I’m not an expert but like the lady said it comes down to what the seller wants to sell it for and what the buyer wants to buy it for. I’m sure someone with a lot of money would buy that ball in the 10K range. Id say old man made a mistake I’m anxious to know if that guy was able to sell it for equal to or more than the old mans offer of 3K.

My technique to always buy at the price I want : 1. Show interest but not too much 2. Ask them for the price first (never give them an idea of your budget) 3. Say that's too expensive or you just don't have enough and start (slowly) leaving. Most of the time they immediately call me back with a second offer or simply asks how much I have which makes it even easier. What just happened is that you reversed the roles and now they basically trying to sell you the sale. When the seller don't call you back and let you leaving, it's ok. Those places are full of sellers selling the same products, you just need to walk few meters more. (obviously it doesn't work at regular shops or supermarkets because those aren't places where we usually discuss prices because employees simply doesn't have the authority to)

Interesting, I'm a car entusiast that buys/sells some used cars and car parts from time to time, mainly buys. But being nice and so on helps a lot, it's kinda a unwritten rule to haggle like 10%, but then when it comes time to pay I ask them if there is anything to do on the price. It kinda puts a little pressure on them to go lower and they have imminently accepted their own, but now discounted, price. It's usually met as a unusual question, and if they don't really say any new price they usually feel some pressure to go lower. Most off the time I'm not going to look at a car and not be interested, I have looked at plenty for a long time and thought this is on off the best ones, and have driven out to look at it. I most likely want to buy it, so haggling too much is a risk, this method however is very easy and let's me feel how ok they are with taking a lower price.
