Why didn’t he just sell it on his own for that much then? Bc it takes a long time to find someone that will pay that much for it and it’s super risky to put it in an auction. Rick has to make a profit and is taking a risk and putting money into the jacket so 40 grand isn’t a scam

He has all of his records, gold records, he has a plinko machine that’s Elvis, two cars detailed as a tribute to elvis, he has all of the plates and things that are elvis, tonnes of other things, he even has two of Elvis’ outfits he wore on stage at shows and two of his outfits he wore when acting in movies. Call Graceland and DONATE on permanent loan. (They have an Archive Department). They’ll know how to care for it and display it in their collection. Then you’ll really feel like you did something meaningful. And if you’re not able to do that, they might know of a serious collector who could be interested in acquiring it. At least then you’ll be having a serious conversation with people who have a heartfelt commitment to EP’s legacy.

Man, I don’t know why nobody notices this, but what Rick does is that he asks the client how much he wants for a certain item, and then calls his “guy”, obviously tells him the price that the client had named and whenever Rick’s guy comes in, he usually lowers the price that he knows the client wants, and both Rick and his guy are profiting from this.
@KALFIT_6 жыл бұрын
i honesty think that was a scam. the customer that owned the elvis jacket questioned whos coming in and seemed to know the guy. the guy gave him a appraisal of it being real and worth quite a bit. So this was a dual effort to get rick to buy it off the customer with the elvis jacket. and with the customer eventually agreeing on 40 grand it seems rational to conclude that he wanted it out of his collection even though he was taking a 'loss'. I may be paranoid about this but seems legit to me!

Pretty clever that they use the 50-65k range to determine what to offer, since the appraiser qualified it as 'the price I would like to get it for', which means from a buyer's perspectie and therefore on the lower range. This doesn't mean he or others wouldn't pay much more. As he said, it's Elvis. So they used a price point that was already discounted to value their offer. Dude bringing it in should've pressed higher.

For everyone out there. Erik is the curator of the Gettysburg museum of history. I recommend going there. He has a collection of unbelievable stuff. He has a lock of Napoleon's hair, Lincoln's wallet, Trueman's hat, Kennedy's suit, Audie Murphy's awards and uniform, Hitler's Ottoman, Eva Braun's Lingerie, and many more rare artifacts. I met him personally and I can say for certain, the guy is no dummy. He researches history heavily. Besides Pawn Stars he also has been featured on American Pickers. To the people who said this was a scam, Erik has been on the show before and probably just wanted to be on the show again for promotion and as crazy as it may seem, might of just wanted to get rid of the jacket to make room for other cool items. But that is just my theory.
