Did you notice the difference in the way this guy treated the book before and then after he sold it to Rick. He brought it in all tucked away in its vellum, with the box lid closed. In the end, he almost tosses the book into the box, not bothering with the vellum, and carries it off lid open. I believe this says something about his character.
